My, fourteen year old female cat, had 3 teeth extracted over two weeks ago. She seemed back to herself was eating and drinking well. She went back for a follow up with the vet last week. He seemed happy that her gums were healing nicely. As of today, she has not seemed as alert, and eat some of her food. After she eat her dinner she headed down to the basement. When I know she is not well she likes to lie up in the ceiling beams of my basement. She has done this when I believe she has run a fever. What can I do for her in the meantime to help her. Money is tight for me right now. Especially after spending over 300.00 for her surgery. Any advice out there?

you can call your vet to see what they say. sometimes they can help you over the phone. did they give you an antibiotic? maybe you can call them to get a refill. if you take her temp the normal is between 101 - 102.5. you just want to watch for any swelling and redness.

Call your vet, follow up visits are usually free. And after spending 300.00 with him, he will most likely let you be billed for any further expenses. But do not let the money stop you from going and getting your pet of fourteen years, check out. And then look for a new vet. cuz, i had to have my cat teeth pulled and the whole process of extracting all of them was 450.00. but then again that was five years ago. so i guess it has gone up.

For mild fevers, less than 104.5F, monitoring your pet at home may result in spontaneous recovery. Keep kitty in a warm and quiet and cosy place. Make sure she continues to eat and drink. Take her temperature one to two times daily. If the temperature rises above 104.5F, contact your veterinarian.

Also, look for any areas of infection such as abscesses, skin lumps, blood in urine or straining to urinate, sneezing or breathing difficulty. In addition, lack of appetite or lethargy should prompt an examination and treatment by your veterinarian.

What I would do is use vaseline or a oily substance and do a redctal tewmp and if its above 101 you might want to call an emergency vet and see what you might be able to do over the phone.

if she is running a fever it sounds like an infection from the tooth removal and what she needs is antibiotics bedor the infection goes to the brain and she dies (which can hapen within 5 days)
Please take her to the vet

Take your cat to the vet. She probably has an infection and only antibiotics will clear it up. Such is price of pet ownership.

It matters if its a boy or girl. If its throwing up then i think u should take it to the vet. If its not then just leave it alone for awhile until it feels and looks better.

Hope It Feels Better!!!!!!!
