Please spare me the "just don't do it!" answers.

I am going to try it, but I know that it's very addictive, and so I would like to be able to control it. I know that some people do it occasionally and have no problems. So what is an amount and/or time period that would be ok? Like, 1/2 gram per month? Per 2 weeks? Once a year?

Please, only answer if you have actually done it OR if you can reference a study. I've searched the internet for studies and haven't found anything specific.

I don't think it's possible, and for the people who tell you how to control it and they have done it, they are addicted themselves. Why would you take advice from a junkie. You are going to want to do more and more. Then you will be hooked.

I have tried it and enjoyed it quite a bit! I've only done it a handful of times in my life. It's very expensive consdering how short the high lasts. I think it just boils down to the fact if you have an addictive-type personality or not. I don't, thankfully. So, if you know yourself then you will be able to answer your own question. I'm also smart enough to know how terrible it is on your heart. I don't want to risk my life/helath for a drug. I think my husband and I split 1 gram during an evening out. That was plenty for us.

There is no way. You can be addicted to it the first time you take it. Also, just so you know the effects that it can have on you I'm going to tell you a few things. You don't have to believe them, but they are proven facts. Cocaine eats the inside of your nasal passages and throat. It can lead to cancer and to sinus deterioration. It can cause you problems with digestion and mental capacity. It WILL kill brain cells and will cause you to look like a skeleton and can cause your skin and hair to look horrible. It will dry out your mucus membranes, so you will get bloody noses all the time and usually ulcers from the acid that's in cocaine. Not the drug acid, but the chemical makeup of acid.

Evidence suggests that users who smoke or inject cocaine may be at even greater risk of causing harm to themselves than those who snort the substance. For example, cocaine smokers also suffer from acute respiratory problems including coughing, shortness of breath, and severe chest pains with lung trauma and bleeding.

Cocaine is a strong central nervous system stimulant. Physical effects of cocaine use include constricted blood vessels and increased temperature, heart rate, and blood pressure. Users may also experience feelings of restlessness, irritability, and anxiety.

Cocaine is a powerfully addictive drug and compulsive cocaine use seems to develop more rapidly when the substance is smoked rather than snorted. A tolerance to the cocaine high may be developed and many addicts report that they fail to achieve as much pleasure as they did from their first cocaine exposure.

Of an estimated 106 million emergency department (ED) visits in the U.S. during 2004, the Drug Abuse Warning Network (DAWN) estimates that 1,997,993 were drug-related. DAWN data indicate that cocaine was involved in 383,350 ED visits.

Why are you insisting on trying it? For social reasons? From experiences, there is no controlling cocaine -- it controls you.

Your first time might be fun, but the hundredth time, you're a neurotic junky looking for a snort. If you're a guy, you will experience sexual disfunction. If you're a girl, you will get strung out and ugly. The term Cocaine Whore wasn't borne from flattery. Paranoia, constant gross sick feeling, bad teeth, a wimp weeny... And you'll never have enough money to buy the cocaine that you want.

One morning I woke up and hated myself, hated everybody around me and was ashamed of what I had become. Fortunately, I knew that I could be better, could do better.

The best thing you can do is to flush it. There is no safe amount of cocaine that you can try. I was an abuser for years. Now, I wish that I had all the money that I wasted on that poison, I could but a house, new car, motorcycle, and pay cash for all of it. Leave it alone.

I am a healthcare provider.

Many people think that they can do drugs and not get hooked.

Why in the world do you think that you're any different from anyone else?

I don't think anyone sets out to become an addict.

it doesn't get you hooked physically but mentally, because people like the way it makes them feel. it doesn't give you withdrawals, you just want to feel "that good" again.
it all comes down to addictiveness of your personality, like if you smoke cigarettes and don't feel physical need for them, can go without smoking for a week. or the same with drinking alcohol or even coffee.
also its very expensive. i don't think you want to get a habit you have to get broke for.
