I need to change the blue background to a black background so that my text will print out. The button that was on my toolbar for this purpose has disappeared and I can't find it.

I'm confused. XP is the operating system that runs the software for MS Word.

If you are talking about black background with a white font in Word, I know of two ways:

1. Create a table of 1 column, 1 row.
click View, Toolbars, Table
select the table
on the table toolbar, click the "shading color" button and choose black
then click the "font color" button on the Formatting toolbar and select white
or
2. Drag a large text box
click the Drawing button on the Standard toolbar
cl the text box button on the Drawing toolbar and drag a box
select the box
cl the 'fill' button on the Drawing toolbar
select black
change the font to white as above

Sorry for this answer, but I don't recommend MS Word XP... I'd recommend open office
