don't go over the top and get her something really expensive, cause you might just get yourself beat up.
i would ask her what her favorite store is and give her a gift card to it. i knew a guy who did this and it seemed like the perfect idea.
it might be tempting to give her an amazing gift, but there's a really low chance that she will dump her bf just because you gave her an amazing gift. if she sees you as a guy who's trying to buy her affections then she will probably like you a lot less.
to win her heart just be a good friend, and don't lose hope because if you two are young (high school) the relationship has a good chance of ending. once it's over, you can buy her flowers as a sympathy present :)

i wouldnt get her any thing unless this was a birthday party... in that case some pretty earrings or bracelette...(sterling silver is very inexpensive) give her something to wear from you that shell like(if unsure, ask some of her friends for ideas) shell have something FROM you to wear to remind her of you...
and dont worry about the boyfriend, maybe it wont last... you sound like a cool person... seems like it might be her loss...

get he somthing like makeup maybe
bath stuff from like bath n body works
get her somthing cute from the mall or
you could always give her a gift card to Starbucks or somthing.
