My sister believes that, and I think it's a bunch of crap. How can their mouths possibly be the cleanest when they drink out of toilet or eat what they eat? Besides, I think I read an article once that said that it's untrue. Mind proving this? Thanks.

Heather I, I never said I didn't like a dog licking my face. I love when dogs lick my face, it's cute!
Seeing the answers, I notice dogs have more bacteria, but something in their tongue that heals wounds? I read the article in the link someone gave me and it talks specifically. I still think that a dog's mouth isn't cleaner, but.. I'll wait for more answers.

I don't know if it the cleanest of all mouths but they are definitely cleaner than a human's. I saw a program on the learning channel that actually cultured swabbed samples from a human and a dog in petrie dishes and the bacteria count was like 1/5 or more lower in the dog's culture and the test was repeated with several different subjects. Amazing!!

OK everyone who said that a dogs mouth is cleaner than a humans YOU ARE SOOOOOOO WRONG i did a science experiment on it and took sample of a dog and a human and put them in petri dishes and the next day the dogs started to grow and the humans NEVER started to grow, so conclusions were that the dogs mouth was REALLY REALLY REALLY gross and the humans wasn't bad at all and before i took the samples the human didn't even brush her teeth!!!
but what is weird is that if a dog bites you you shouldn't get a disease unless the dog has rabies because humans are immune to most dog germs.

back when my grandparents were children and they had no money for medicine they would have the dog lick any wounds they had that would get infected, a dog has something in it's saliva that has healing properties. yes it is absolutely true. i would let my dog lick me on the mouth before you!! not meant to be mean, just a joke. most people do not like dogs to lick them on the face, you are not alone. but you must face the fact that dogs mouths are cleaner than ours. really just ask your doctor or school nurse if you are still in school.

Mythbusters proved that a dog mouth is cleaner than ours. One of them lick a petri dish and had a dog do the same, set them in incubator and let what would grow grow. The dogs dish had far less than the human dish.

My sister is going to college to be a dental assistant. She said that she learned that the human mouth is the filthiest mouth ever. A dogs mouth is even cleaner.

They did something with this on mythbusters. They had a dog and human lick a mold culture. After the designated incubation period, there was more activity on the humans culture. Now, with my dog, that is definitely not true. He has copaphasia, look it up.

Yep, they do have the the cleanest mouths. Dogs almost have a street cleaner in their mouth, their mouths do have some nasty stuff in there but not as much as us humans, but after all, dogs are a man's best friend! ;)

You are right--a typical dog's mouth has got to be full of yucky stuff.
Not only do they drink out of the toilet bowl, but they lick their own butts!
Tell that to your sister, and then see how quickly she wants to have a dog lick her face!

DOGS HAVE CLEANER MOUTHS! ACCEPT IT! Besides, did you know that a steering wheel is also MUCH dirtier than a toilet! Lot's of weird things you wouldn't expect are right in front of you.

It really depends on how you think about it. Dogs, have less bacteria in their mouths than humans, but just the thought of all the places that tongue's been is... well, scary. lol
