C6H12O6 + 6 O2 + 38 ADP + 38 phosphate → 6 CO2 + 6 H2O + 38 ATP

If you look at the equation of plant respiration above, you will notice that a plant can and will release its own CO2 during respiration and then will use it for photosynthesis ( you are providing all the other elements).

so it can prolong its existence almost indefinitely.

It may not GROW or may not look healthy ; but it will survive for long.

Probably not very long since the carbon in CO2 is what plants need to make their food (sugars). Maybe something like a venus fly trap could live off the carbon of insects for a while.
