Every Marine is an Infantryman and a Rifleman...first & foremost....The Marines are basically an Infantry organization...so Yes every Marine Officer is basically qualified to lead the infantry...which in Marine lingo is an 0311 Basic Rifleman

Yes there are Infantry Officers in the Corps. And ,any officer in the Corps should be qualified to lead a platoon or company of Marines into combat. If there aren't, things have sure changed since I retired some 20 years ago.

Absofreaken'lutly!!! There are very fine Officers in the Marine Corps Grunts and I had the privilege of serving under several while in combat.

Every single job has officers. Someone has to lead. The only thing is, it seems harder to get the job you want as an officer.
