Don't get the Jackson, very cheaply made since Fender took over If your going for cheap go for an Ibanez highest end affordable. But I highly recommend A Schecter anything other than an OMEN. If you had about two hundred more I would get the Schecter Hellraiser with EMG 81/85. This is the best and most affordable Guitar with that setup. Trust me I have been researching this for six months. This is the same setup up as Zakk Wylde, I played the Gibson Les Paul Wylde edition and the Hellraiser through the same amp setup(Joe Satriani Peavey) and the Hellraiser blew the Les Paul away for action and sound. Also Syn from Avenged Sevenfold uses Schecters. Awesome guitars for the money. They sound sweet with the Marshall 15amp with reverb. Good luck and save a little more, You be sorry if you settle for anything else and You'll want to trade up soon. I have 10 Guitars and nothing comes close the the Schecter.

for metal i dont think you can beat Jackson and Marshel. however if you want to play pretty much everything, i'd get a Gibson Les Paul. anything sounds great on a Les Paul. hell even Zakk Wyld plays on a Les Paul.
