Your vet should have recommended treatment when he told you that. Give him a call.

Usually its nothing to worry about. Could have been from a recent meal or snack. Your vet should have suggested you have her blood redrawn after with holding food for 12-14 hours and re-tested. Just like humans, a animal's lab results can vary after eating, which is why human doctors ask us to fast before a blood test. As long as everything else is within normal limits, there is no need to worry.
"Cholesterol is a form of fat. Cholesterol can be increased in the
bloodstream for many reasons in dogs. It is much less common for cats to have increased cholesterol. Some of the diseases that cause elevated cholesterol are hypothyroidism, Cushing's disease, diabetes and kidney diseases that cause protein to be lost in the urine. High cholesterol does not predispose dogs and cats to heart and blood vessel disease as it does in people. "

As a vet tech, high cholesterol was never considered a problem in cats or dogs. I think since your vet mentioned it, you should give him a call. Dogs and cats have a short life so high cholesterol isn't a factor.

I am sorry, LOL at first answer though. I think the vet should have suggested something to you. So you would have options. Call your vet again though, and maybe have the cat retested after it does not eat for 12 hours.....like humans do when they have their cholesterol tested. Good luck.

Your vet didn't suggest anything? That's odd. Hmm...give your vet a call and ask if there is anything that you need to do. You might not need to do anything, but if you are really concerned, call your vet. Good luck.

If he's like my cat, stop feeding him turkey bacon. Hope your cat gets better.
But seriously, switch to dry only. I have a Maine Coon/Norwegian Forest Cat who's a maniac when it comes to table food!
Good luck!

I think you need to find a new vet. If your vet told you that then they should of told you exactly what you need to do to lower it at that time.
