No atheist nor christians nor jews are supposed to be supersticious...right?

Is social pressure perhaps? the fact that cant deal with media biased information?

So... who's scared?

Nothing will happen if we read it. Well, maybe some of us will be a bit disturbed when we read how relegated the Lord Jesus Christ to a mere prophet status but hey, those of us who know that that isn't true have no worries.

SO, if you want to read the Qur'an , go ahead read it all you want, Jesus Christ is still Lord.

May God's Blessing Be Upon You.

personally, i don't want to recommend the book but if you do want to read the koran out of curiosity or common interest then by all means do it, and then you may be able to see that these terrorists are justifying themselves (wrongly of course) by twisting certain words in the book. The book does offer a lot of confusing messages as does any holy book but was interesting to study when i did for two years. Nothing will happen to you as a person unless you get influenced very easily and tend to believe anything that is set infront of you, it is not some magical voodoo book which takes over people (although from looking at the news one would have thought so huh?)

generally hearing quran recicitation, calms the soul so much .& this is proved to cure many psychic probs even in non muslims , also the saying ( la elaha ella Allah ) often , have great effect on regulation of respiration , this is from scientific point of view

also reading quran & understanding its meanings may be a main great cause for changing one's religion to islam ... coz quran isnt just about jihad & killing non believers like ppl think , its much more than that really , its a different speech that noone could write like , its the only book which has true God's words on earth , non muslims will miss so much by not reading it ,

I would probably end up learning arabic! (Although I could think of easier ways!) As a kid I read a large part of it in the school library - in English. But I am told it is not valid if it is not in Arabic. (A bit like the catholic Church used to want people to read the Bible in Latin only, but got over that).
In any case, if I had an English copy of the Quran in my home, I would start to fread it, but I couldn't promise to read it all the way through.

I would gladly read the Quran if I had the time. I may actually *gasp* LEARN something!

Personally I think that Christians who cannot expand their horizons are terrified of the big, bad world out there and hide behind the Bible to solve their fears.

God put us all on this earth with amazing minds, and it's such a waste to not USE them.

By only reading one type of religon a person is isolating themselves from truly understanding the whole picture.
If you have already chosen a religion but do not know it well, i recommend you first get to know that one really well before possibly confusing yourself with others.
I would like to read the Koran(sp?) but I am still reading the NIV Bible.
For an interesting view of all religions see "Transformations of Man and Myth Through Time" by Joeseph Campbell.
Also, once you have chosen one religion, to fully understand it you must study all religions (Theology)
Jesus himself (im told) learned about Buddism, and other religions near the middle east before he started working "miracles".

a greater understanding of the largest religion in Indonesia & other places that this Jew wants to go back to. My problem is not with the open minded- it is with those who follow another man (not Quran) blindly. Know your own heart. Does it say to kill others that do not believe the same way that you do? Then you are in the right religion. Now- why does this spell checker miss so many words????

Nothing will happen to me if I read the Koran. And in fact, I have read some of it (but admittedly, not all of it). I'm a Christian, but I don't shy away from reading the texts of other religions.

You would become more enlightened. The Koran is not a book of curses. You're not struck down from reading the Koran any more than you would be if you read the Bible. They are both accounts of people from the Middle East.
