Nice answer big shot. Just a note come on SPORTSMEN this is the most important question asked in here i think!!!!!!!!! & people you are not helping. Yes try a hunter safety course You will need one so you can hunt. look on line for your states wildlife info for classes in your area & also try your local sporting goods store. ( try one localy owned. not one @ the mall ) Also try other kids you go to school with. They & there parents will be a great help as well . Yes they may not be the guys you hang out with but you will get some great new freinds. Also for hunting does not always mean a gun. I started bow hunting small game .( thats all my dad would let me do @ that age ) And i will tell you it will make you a much better hunter. Also if crossbows are legal in your state i would try that as well. Hope this helps & good luck.If your ever in ohio my freinds & i will hunt with you !

Try to find a family friend or take a hunter safety course. Through this you will meet some people who like to hunt. However, since you are underage, it might be difficult to hunt if your parents are anti-hunters. If they are supportive, then they can help in providing you with a gun for use when hunting with another adult.

Unfortunately, hunting is declining in many parts of the country and some older folks would be happy to help a young person learn how to safely hunt.

Take a hunters safety course. Meet up with the teacher (typically a conservation officer) and express that you want to learn. Most hunters are happy to show a new hunter the ropes, after all someone showed them. This is an excellent way to make lifelong friends.

1) Figure out why you want to hunt.
2) Get support from your family-- this is crucial, they need to understand why you hunting is going to benefit the family.
3) Look online for a hunters safety course
4) Purchase a firearm. If you are hunting game you're going to want a rifle. If you're bird hunting you want a shotgun. Look into what caliber or gauge you want for the animal you are going for
5) Practice your shot. Check online for the kill shot placement you want for the animal you're going to hunt. Shoot from various distances to make sure you're going to kill the animal with the first shot
6) Buy your license and tags
7) Go get 'em and fill the freezer
Good luck(:

Forkliftguy is right. The decline in hunting over the last 30 years is sad.Too many anti gun whacko's have convinced the youth of this country that hunting is bad.We ,as hunters ,have a responsibility to these kids to bring our sport/hobby back to these kids.I have taught my daughter,3 nephews and a niece to shoot, then to hunt.If this youngster gets discouraged,it will be OUR loss.Go to NRA.com and click on "FRIENDS OF NRA".This will give you local phone numbers of sportsmen in your area.In my 40 years of hunting,I have never heard of good card carrying members of the NRA that wouldn't help a kid.If you live in N.E.Kansas-I'll teach you myself and let you use my guns.

Talk to some of your close friends ( in the presents of there parents) and ask them if you could go next time. You can contact your local DNR for firearm class and your buddy's father will feel much more comfortable on the next hunting trip.

First of all, where do you live? If you live in the city, it might be hard, but if you live in the woods, then it is pretty easy.

You need to find a mentor. Ask your dad if he has any friends that may help.
