I'm preparing for my trip to the UK and am trying to figure out if I should make a daytrip out of Glasgow, Scotland. I'll be in Scotland the 17th-21st of March and am staying in Edinburgh. The people I am going with said they've heard it wasn't worth the trip, but I am under the impression it's a pretty cool place from websites and such. Has anyone been there or live there? I would love some feedback before deciding to travel there. Thanks!

Ask them. Here's a link to "Craigslist" in Glasgow.
Put a post in the Rant and Raves section and see
what they say.

Glasgow is a great place, great people, great accents , great things to do and has come a long way in the last 10 - 15 years from it's industrial roots. People know how to have a good time there now.

For scenery, you can venture North or West a few kms. I've given you access to website where you can check out the things to do ( The official tourism directory for Britain / Scotland is VisitBritain ].

If you need to spend overnight, there;s some great accommodation deals at short notice - just dig into the offer and see what being thrown in for the prices e.g. free breakfasts, sometimes tickets to small events.

Good luck and happy planning:

I live in Glasgow and yes it's worth the visit -even if only to tell your friends back home that you have set foot in Europes murder capital - and that's official! Don't worry though, as a tourist you'll be visiting the city centre, lots to see and do, you'll love the vibe (and it's much better than Edinburgh). Try and visit the Kelvingrove Gallery - you could spend a day in there on it's own, or try the transport museum, wander down Sauchiehall street or go and visit Celtic Football Stadium and George Square - these are all 'must see's' for your photo album, have fun, you'll find the people of Glasgow very welcoming.

I have been there - to me it was a very industrial city - Edinburgh is much nicer - take a day trip to Inverness
