My family is Christian they go to church a lot and i was wondering if i don't believe in some stuff thats in the bible does that make me bad or something like for example I believe that humans evolved from monkeys but the bible says we didn't. In the bible it says something about having an abortion and that its bad and stuff and you shouldn't get abortions, but i think its the mothers choice and i don't think abortions are bad. Sooo... my question is: Is it bad to not follow certain things in your religion?

The Bible was written for the Believers of long long ago.It was written for Judaism primarily.When The Big Bang took place creation threw up many life forms both in the depths of the ocean,and on the land. Why stop at The Apes when thinking about the origins of Man .Abortion is frowned upon not by just Catholic teachings but by other great minds because of the belief that it is wrong to take another life deliberately.It is wrong to follow any religion when it requires you to ignore your conscience.

I wouldn't say it's bad, necessarily, but maybe after you've gone through more of life's experiences, you can see the other side of the story. I think it's too easy for someone to say they are against abortion for this and that reason and too easy for someone to say it's the mother's choice for this reason or that reason. The only way we can truly understand what people go through is go through it ourselves and then base an opinion on it. Then we know the reality of where we stand on a situation. Based on your posting and your screen name, I doubt you'll ever truly know what it feels like to be considering having an abortion. Maybe given time and as much information on both sides you will be able to come up with the best idea on where you stand. Even then it will be hard.
As far as evolving from monkeys, maybe God created the world to evolve this way?

I think it is important for you to understand the reason that your religion has a certain point of view concerning various subjects. I, for example, am a Roman Catholic, and I realize that in order for me to be a good Catholic I must uphold the teachings of the church. If there is something I don't agree with, I study the matter, and pray for guidance. I have found that I usually come around to understanding, and then agreeing, with the Church's teachings. Abortion, for example -- the Church teaches that ALL life is sacred, and given to us by God, and therefore it is not anyone's choice to end it (including a pregnant mother). If you choose not to believe something that is taught by your church, then why would you want to belong to that particular faith?

There's religion and there's spirituality.
Religion = Customs, laws, and teachings of your faith
Spirituality = A relationship with God.
Just because you don't agree with everything doesn't make you bad, just means that you are you.
Also, if you wish to continue with christianity, try reading the bible with a fresh set of eyes. Quit worrying what everyone tells you to get out of it. Look for meanings, lessons, archtypes, etc. and don't just think of it as a textbook.
I once heard someone say that the Bible is a spiritual book that should be read through faith, not just intellect and literal interpretations. You get hidden meanings, encouragement, advice about living, and of course faith lessons out of it.

Don't listen to judgemental person like Arby. What does she know about your parents, and it's very low for a religious person to accuse people.
You will be growing up seeing fact and reality, let your mind free to think what's right and wrong. Don't feel guilty for thinking. One day you'll be ready to decide, this is or this is not what makes sense to you.

I can relate, my family is Christian, but I lean towards being Agnostic. I don't believe anything in Genius. I can't tell you if it's bad, but it is normal.
