Itz ok when they stop acting up. I'm assuming that you mean a spanking and not a beating. But my husband got spanked up to 17 and now he hates his dad, i'm sure you don't wait that so i would stop at the early teen.. but it depends on the maturaty of the child. Spare the Rod spoil the Child.

A couple of years ago, on your child's birthday. NEVER EVER beat a child. It's immoral, humiliating, and lasting effects on your child. Look, if you can't handle the pressure of being a parent, then give the child to another family. Listen to them once in a while. Just because you're the mother, doesn't mean that you're the boss and the God. The child has opinions, and does matter in the world. In case you haven't noticed. Physical violence is immoral and terrible.

You don't need to beat your child.
The best thing that affected me was being grounded. When everything that entertained me was taken away, all I could do was think about what I had done.
Also, there is place in the back of a person's head that when the hair is pulled there it hurts like hell. At least for me it did.

Now is a good time to stop. As a mother to 4 (now grown), I learned from the 1st child (who had ADD) that it doesn't work, ever. Even in the midst of a temper tantrum, you child needs love and the reassurance that he/she is loved. They are out of control of their feelings so the best thing is to hold them tightly in your arms and continue telling them that you love them. You will feel the tension leave their little bodies. If you are firm, and they know you will not waiver, you will never feel the need to spank.

Immediately! Put him in his room and don't let him come out until you've had a long bath with bubbles. If he keeps coming out while you're in the bath tell him he's going to have to go stand in the corner at the babysitters house for 20 minutes. Works for mine. And either way you win. Tell him he's paying the babysitter out of his piggy bank if he doesn't straighten up. Email me if you need more ideas-

It is never ok to have started beating your child in the first place. You should be ashamed of yourself. You really make me sick.

I wish I knew your name, I would call Child Protective Services on you...you are a loser...beating your child... NO EXCUSE!!!
Even if the child doesn't listen...whose fault is that...maybe you didn't make him/her mind...you should be the one who is beaten...
A CHILD ONLY KNOWS WHAT HE/SHE IS TAUGHT...
NO SUCH THING AS A BAD KID, ONLY BAD PARENTS...AND YOU ARE 1ST ON MY LIST DOUCHE BAG..
