Most Turks are muslims. However, what might be confusing you is that the government and state there are secular. After the first world war, Mustafa Kemal set up a republic which he wanted to be western leaning and progressive. So the state has built in safeguards against too much islamic influence.

I am a Turk and we believe what we choose to believe,
And yes most Turks are Muslims..
but
Our country is not run by religious beliefs, we believe thats between god and person....

Ä°slam. I believe in Allah and I am in favour of goodness. But I dont do any other Ä°slamic rules.
Please dont think people who bombs himself for the name of Ä°slam as Muslim because i think they will all go to the hell. Real Ä°slam is the religion of the peace.
Also, Turkiye is the unique laic and secular country among all Muslim countries. In Turkiye, everybody is free whatever they want to believe.

Also i m, but I do not think i m a good muslim. I dont do all the islamic rules. And I think its so hard to be 100% good muslim nowadays. I didnt see an example before.

Turkiye is a secular country. There is no any pressure for religion. So that, %96 Muslim, and the other Chiristian and Jewish well maybe Ateist can be.
