yes that is wrong. That is absolutely terrible. First of all baby hair is delicate and baby scalps are too delicate to be able to tolerate any chemicals, even if they are" baby perms" or left in for a short amount of time. Many adults have problems with perms and it breaks their hair off, so putting it on a child will definately do damagel. in addition to that you will give the poor child a complex about her hair putting chemicals in her hair that early and she will develop self esteem issues having to deal with a traumatic experience like that at that age.
She should be able to get braids or wear her hair natural at that age. I wore my hair natural at that age and then as I got older I wore braids. My hair was long and thick. My cousin got a perm when she was 3 and either the chemicals were bad, or the stylist, but all of her hair fell out. Then at 4, 5, 6, she had to wear wigs because her hair fell out and had a hard time growing back because it kept breaking off. So finally in high school she got enough hair so that she should get a weave. She wears weaves to this day because she is too scared to get any chemicals ever. Unfortunately from the weaves, she developed traction alopecia so she has breakage at the hairline. On top of that , she married a guy so her kids could have "pretty hair" and their hair came out just like hers and now the kids have a complex as well. Tell your friend not to do that to that baby and to learn more about natural hair care.

Yes, its very wrong. I have a cousin that permed her daughter's hair, now its as dry as straw ad falling out by the handfulls. On the box it is advised that a child younger than 6 shouldn't get a perm, it warns for a reason. If anything were to go wrong that little girl could have hair and scalp problems for the rest of her life, I've seen it in a few females... If she wants a bald by ten daughter, then yes she should go ahead and not care about the child's lifelong struggles to have good hair, but if she loves that little girl and wants what's best for her then she'll have to just use the time tried custom of grease and water... or some hair lotion on a brush. I honestly can't understand how someone could be so selfish...Oh, and I forgot, how's she going to stop the child from scratching her scalp? You can't get any chemicals put on the scalp if it has abrasions.... it can cause permanent scarring and hair loss... severe hair loss.

It IS wrong. They use some very strong chemicals to perm hair and a child that young could get chemical burn on her scalp. Why would a three year old need a perm anyway? She's just a baby!

Totally wrong! A 3 year old cannot take care of a perm. She probably can't take care of the hair she has now. If she gets it, the mom will have to brush her, tangles, everyday. That might make her cry because of the pullin on her scalp. Also it will damage her healthy hair so do no do it. I can understand it might look cute but not healthy at all! Try braiding her hair instead *_*

The perm solution is quite strong and I would imagine it would be rather potent for a little 3 year old girl to breath in those fumes. Also, its best to let your child decide what they want done with their hair when they get older--when it matters to THEM and NOT the parent or their friends....
I know this because I let my hairstylist best friend perm my daughter's hair when she was 5 and she screamed bloody murder the whole time. It was really traumatic and I finally knew then what a bad idea it was.

Yes, you will burn her scalp. That would be child abuse. Why would you need to perm a 3 year olds hair? Are you that worried about her appearance already?

Besides the fact that she could get hurt, which in itself is the only reason that a caring mom should need, why would a mom care about what a three year old looks like? Your lucky to have a child anyway, why do you have to be unhappy with how she looks? I don't know your friend or the little girl but that seems EXTREMELY superficial to me.

The child still has "baby hair". The perm not only will not work, it will severely damage the hair. Good Luck convincing her.

Its a shame your friend didn't have an intelligence test before having a child. I can't believe she is so stupid. Different types of hair require different strengths too. Even if it didn't burn the childs scalp, it could act as a depilitary.
Tell your friend she needs to stop being so shallow and accept her child for what she is - fine, limp hair - tall/small - black/white - thin/fat. She sounds like she needs to get a grip.
