I am planning a trip to Kowloon, Hongkong. I will be eating some of my meals outside the hotel.

HK style fastfood restaurant arounds $2-3

It's pretty affordable (fastfood) but keep in mind that the serving sizes are smaller than North America's. Good trip & good eating!

The cost of the food is extremely cheap in Hong Kong. You can go to a bistro or a local restaurant for what you would pay in USA in a fast food joint, or just a little bit more.

Food are cheap in Hong Kong, you could get away from $2-6. (Chinese food) Starbucks aren't cheap if you look for coffee. You might end up to pay the same as in U.S.
