Andy Warhol would be pretty easy to recreate but you could be a little more creative and instead of doing a straight copy why not do your own portrait but in the style of Warhol. That would be pretty cool.

i did a copy of the campbell's soup can as a kid I used a .001 sable for most of it and spongees for parts but every work is different, you can use all brush or all sponge (you can get amazing detail with a prepared sponge particularly with pointillist works like Suerat. Be sure to treat your surface properly with wash (white or grey for full coverage) for paints oils mixed with acrylic or even latex give the modern clear look to a wort (sorry i call copies worts) but if you do something original with it it should be o.k. If your into clasics you could paint suerat(isle of le grande jatte) in turner (watercolor style) or monet(haystacks)with watercolor and sponges

Go to an art museum for inspiration. Or do a self portrait. It's hard to paint outside yourself until you know who YOU are.
