o, that happened to me; im in 8th grade and i just got my phone in the summer all my friends already had one since like 6th and i like begged them till they got so annoyed they gave in lol but since we have t-mobile, i only talk after 9 and on weekends unless its a emergency. you can tell your parents that if you ever need to stay after school, you can just call them so they wont worry, and that you wont text or talk on the phone that much unless its free or when ever your cell phone plan thing lets you have free minutes. you can also say it'll be safer for you to have one if you ever go outside alone or soemthing and you need help or if you have an emergency and need to call someone. good luck! =)

You want a phone but you don't need a phone.

Practically all teen-agers run up the phone bill even when they say they won't because the temptation to talk when you shouldn't is pretty strong.

Maybe your parents will get you a phone with the understanding that the first time you run up the bill you give the phone up.

So, purchase your own phone and purchase time as you need it. Start saving up kiddo. And if you want to convince your family that u need a phone don't tell them that it's because "everyone else has one". If everyone else has one, borrow one of theirs. The stats are not on your side. There is a 92.674 % chance that you will run up the bill. Pay for it yourself and show them you can be responsible.

Get a prepaid phone. My daughter wanted a phone but I did not think she was responsible enough and she would run up the bill or lose the phone. I was right but a prepaid phone will allow your parents to control your usage and you would have a phone. Figure out a way to earn extra money to pay for your phone cards.

If you want a phone that bad, then get a part time job, and get a pay as you go phone. You can get $20. phone card. When it is used up, buy another one. That way, you still have your own phone, and it won't cost your parents a cent.

This is an easy one. Earn the money and pay for the phone yourself. That way, you're sure not to run up the bill, because you'll be paying for it yourself. How to earn money? Babysit, mow lawns, watch pets, wash cars. You can do it! Good luck, and happy talking on your new phone when you earn it. :-)

my kids dont really need a phone....i make them have a phone...so i know where they are and if theyre okay if theyre not with any parental supervision...on a bike ride on a walk ..crossing a major street...when they get 'where' and when they are leaving 'there' ...it works for me! instead of telling them what your friends have...<<

Suggest something like "go phones" where you pay as you go. Let them know that you'll be responsible and pay. Also, this lets you pay for the minutes before you use the minutes.
