Im 18 & sr in hs, i was thinking about trying for baseball, but i don't know if it's worth it. I've had very bad luck with sports (couldn't play soccer this year cause of an injury) & went out for baseball as a soph just to be the last one cut (literally the last since the jv coach couldnt decide & kept me an extra tryout just end up cutting me). Then he said the reason was cause the Vars coach didnt think i would make it, but now that same JV coach is on varsity, & he seemed to at least think i had some talent since he kept me & was the last cut.

However, I didnt play last year or tryout, & theres a lot of politics w/ sports as you're expected to play in private summer leagues (basically the seniors are already picked). This coach said i could be a manager & do all the summer leagues, but i didnt since i was away for summer.

Is it worth being cut again just to see what might happen, or keep some dignity from these sports/politics(& not leave hs as the 1 who was cut again)?

Go for it! You'll never know if you don't try. And don't be too hard on yourself if you don't make the cut either. The way people remember you will not be drastically changed whether you play or not in you last year - but who cares what people think of you anyway? You are about to graduate! Focus on your future and take advantage of the clean slate you're about to get. Are you going to college? People I went to HS with don't even recognize me anymore and I always hear how surprised people are about the things that are going on in my life. If you want more in any area of your life, now is the perfect time to get it. Forget about what others think of you though and do it for yourself. You'll get better results in the end! And trust me - HS popularity doesn't gaurantee anything, especially after you get your diploma. I wouldn't trade places today with any of the "popular" kids I went to HS with. Good luck =)

I think you should at least try out. When I was in high school, I tried out for the basketball team, only to be cut, same with track. However, I did not get the reputation as the "person who keeps getting cut". There were other avenues that I pursued, and years later I do not regret at least trying. I think if I had not tried out, I would have regretted not knowing if I could have made it or not.

if you truly feel they're a part of you, then by all means, go for it. sports might be hopelessly intertwined with politics in some form or another, but if you let it bother you, you will never enjoy what you're doing. keep trying until you find your nitch in life.

there are a good many people in this world that would not have become successful in life if they did not annoy everyone until they got what they wanted. its all up to you.

I think I would try again. But you need to practice your fundamentals at home. Hitting and catching. Get a bunch of tennis balls and get someone to fast pitch for you. Find a steep hill, throw the ball to the top of the hill and learn to charge a grounder. Use a real baseball for that.

Just try out....if you make the team, great. If not, oh well. At least you can say you tried. Its always worse to have not tried than to wonder your whole life if you could have done it or not. Be careful with your injury though, you dont want that to stick around for the rest of your life either, my knee can vouch for that
