After we broke up my ex said we would still be friends. He would still talk to me and hang out with me and our friends. But then he started to avoid me. It's gotten to the point where I'll walk up to our friends and he'll just turn his back on me. He won't even look at me. He dosn't talk to me at all. He won't go to any of the after school clubs we were both in before either, and won't tell his best friend why he decided to quit. We had a pretty mutual break up, he just didn't want to be with me anymore and I didn't plan on staying in a relationship where I wasn't wanted. I never did anything to hurt him. He has told me he dosn't love me anymore and that he never wants to be with me again over e-mails so I know he dosn't have feelings for me. So why can't he just be my friend? I'm not trying to get him back, but it makes things kind of weird when hes avoiding me and I don't want to lose a friend. Maybe I can fix it if I know why hes being like this. Any ideas?

You did what you can to remain cordial with him and he repeatedly declined your friendliness.

Time to move on. Yes, you had some good moments together but that is the past. You need to keep your self-respect.

This sounds similar to a situation i was in ... now... the reason he might not wanna be around could be his guilty feelings for some reason or another... or it could be because he is afraid that he is sending out mixed messages... Guys just wanna cut things clean. They don't want to be friends after wards because it becomes too "complicated" or too"hard" for them to bear to see you... He also would never wanna see you with another guy.. he may not want you..but he doesn't want another guy to have you either. Right now he is just trying to make sure that there are no feelings between you guys any more... give him time.. don't push into his life or he'll get the idea that you want him as more than a friend still... be patient.. give short hello's & goodbye's... nothing too serious... & if you guys were real friends, in a while you two will be able to get back to a friendship. Hope i helped ♥ Britt

back off him for a while. give him his space. if you're supposed to be friends and you're not giving him an opportunity to be just that because you're always up his rear... then just back off. it's a fact of life that people say things they don't mean even though they might have good intentions... and sometimes people who have dated just find it hard to be friends after having an intimate relationship. you have to respect his wishes if he's not into hanging out just yet or ever for that matter. your initial feelings might be to hurt him back because he's putting you through something right now but the best thing you can do is just back off and give him time. it'll show a higher level of maturity from you.

good luck!

he probably feels uncomfortable arund u. ive had the same problem. it just feels weird for some people to be around someone they used to have a relationship with. just give it some time. but i think he'll continue to avoid u. just forget about him and move on.

Maybe he has met someone else and can't face you about it, so he resorts to the "Cold-cold shoulder".
