I use a mask once a month. And my dad started to notice that my skin is getting lighter (im an african american.) and blamed it on the masks.

I use Mud Pack Masque from Queen Helene mostly.

Unless the mask has hydroquinone in it, or if it specifically says it's skin lightening, it can't bleach your skin. I'd guess that you had a tan before, and your skin is getting back to its normal shade. All skin colors can get tanned.

It might be true. I bought the same product a couple of weeks ago, because I used to love mud masks, and how nicley they cleaned my skin. There is alcohol or something in it; I had to stop applying it, and immediately remove it with a wet washcloth. My husband was hysterical. It was damned uncomfortable!

I've never heard or seen a maks lighten someone's skin tone. However you are taking away the dead skin cells so it may be a possibility the your underlying pigment is lighter.

well some skin treatments can brun your skin.maybe it's an allergic reaction.so maybe your dad is right.just in case i advise go to your local skin docter.
