At first it will be a light reddish yellow. Youwould need a double process. I have dark brown hair and use a bleach for men, and get it ash blonde in one step. Its called Jerome Russell. I swear by it. None of the others lighten that fats and complete in 1 step.
Good luck !!

It will probably be really bright orange and brassy. I would try using a medium blonde color in the cool tones, because cool tones prevent that brassy orangy color. Then maybe you can put a few streaks of the bright blonde on top of that. I use the powder bleach and the liquid from the beauty supply store. I mix it really thick then I paint a few highlights on where I want them. I usually do only 6 highlights, but it turns out really pretty, and the powder and liquid lasts for months because I only mix what I need.

Especially because you are a first time hair dyer, I would highly reccomend going to a salon and getting your hair professionally done.. However, at home hair colors are offered in a wide array of shades, even for just black. Some black dye actually shines a very dark blue in light, but it usually will mention that affect on the box... Hope that helps =)

my roommate has done this many times, she has brown hair, and she used light blonde dye --- it comes out a dark blonde.
it doesn't look brown at all. its actually a nice color. but just be sure not to keep the dye in for too long! :)

If your hair has any red to it at all it will be a nice shade of orange. Go to a salon and have it done at least the first time. Think you will be much happier with the results. Also it won't be as damaging to your hair.

Honey blonde (dirty blonde) assuming that your hair is medium brown. If lighter brown, then you could get fairly blonde hair.
