For the life of me, I do not understand why Christianity is accepted as the "one true religion". What makes it so much more superior to all the other beliefs in the world? What makes it any better than polytheism, buddhism, taoism, shintoism, judaism, etc? Who gave Christianity the right to hold that claim? If it weren't for Constantine, we might all still be Pagan. Why is it that when this question will be answered, people will say cuz it is in the bible? The bible was written by men and is clearly contradictory in and of itself. I just don't get it. I think if a person holds a religious belief that is sacred to them, then it makes it as valid as Christianity.

It's only accepted as the one true religion by Christians because that's what they are taught. It's the foundation of their belief. Their bible states that only those who believe in Jesus get to go to heaven -- so, they tell everyone else that they are right, and they think that everyone else is wrong.

Because Christianity is the majority with most followers. It makes up 33% of all religions which undermines Hinduism, Judaism, Buddhism, and even Islam. Even though is relatively new compared to other religions mention above it has gained popularity and is very common. Therefore, it is seen as the true religion but if it wasn't for the Catholic Church and Constantine we would all be pagans or Jewish.

every religion claims itself to be the best. Jesus was the revolutionary who was/is the Way, Truth and Life. Christianity is narrow by nature. And that's a good thing.
and not true. if it weren't for constantine, Christianity would be illegal everywhere until some nation legalized it. It's still illegal in some countries
every religious book was written by men. why target the Bible? it has a cross on it, not a bulls-eye
everybody has their shots to get in, just most people are to afraid to give up "pleasureful" lifestyles.

If people are brainwashed at an early age then they will believe anything. Remember the mass suicide by all those people who thought the 'mothership' was coming to save them?
Christians are brainwashed using the most terrifying methods. Small children are told that if they misbehave they will be sent to Hell for all eternity where they will burn endlessly and worms will eat their eyeballs.
How can a good, peaceful religion teach these things to a child? Why not wait until the child is older and more prepared to hear these things? It's because children are the most impressionable and they need to be 'conditioned' to believe all the crazy things their religion demands.

It's an unfortunate consequence of literalism. Not long after it began, Christianity was taken over by Biblical literalists who believed that anything in the Bible not obviously allegorical must have happened exactly as described. To harmonize the contradictions, they had to develop some peculiar theological concepts. But they stopped there. Any mythologies or doctrines outside the Bible were rejected, since you can't keep trying to reconcile contradictions.
Some Christians are open to alternate interpretations of cosmology and morality, allowing that their understanding is only one aspect of the mystery of God. These are referred to as heretics by the literalists, who like to keep things simple.

You have mentioned a number of other religions so I am assuming that you agree with the idea that everyone is free to believe as they like. If you cannot understand Christianity at least you should accept our right to believe it if we understand it.

It's only accepted as the one true religion by Christians because that's what they are taught. It actually has the most evidence against it of any major organized religion.

hi answer buddy,
Truth is narrow,, very narrow, and to get to truth, one must take one avenue alone.
For example,
Say if you were to call me on my mobile phone, (which is a 10 digit number) you would have to type in ALL the digits and they would have to be in the exact ordered sequence, or my phone would not be contacted, Even if you entered the digits in the correct order, yet left out just one digit, you would never reach my phone.
Truth is narrow, and to arrive at my phone, you would have to take one and only one avenue, which is to dial the correct number.
If someone sneaky approached you halfway through typing out the digits of my number on your phone, and said...
"Hey, why dont you try swapping this one digit i have here, and try ringing this number, but dont worry, its practically the same number as what you were about to dial"
Question?... would you reach my phone? No.
My point is that there is only one path to direct truth, anything else is an imposter, or a side shoot of what you originally intended to connect with... my number.
also it may be note worthy to say that out of all the teachings of the many major religions, only Christ actually Solidly claimed to actually be God on many occasions, so his claimes are at least worth further investigation first.
I like your question, thankyou for the post

Of course it's only the "one true religion" to the Christians. The other two thirds of the world's population disagrees.

You are right. Christianity is there for those who need it, and some people in this age do not need it nor are they ready to receive it, so they should not even worry about it. Christians should understand this and give others the breathing room they deserve and need.
