I am 23 years old and work full-time. My mother keeps my daughter while im at work. I am wanting to relocate and my daughter needs to be potty trained in order to go to preschool or day care. What are some ways I can get her to use the bathroom on a consistant basis?

First of all, you have to be consistent with her and so does your Mom. A lot of people make the mistake of having their kid wear underpants one day, and a diaper the next. What worked for my daughter was getting her a baby doll that wet, we had the baby go in the potty, then afterwards we threw confetti and made a big deal for the baby doll. My daughter knew we would do the same for her, plus we also promised to let her call her favorite character, which at the time was Barbie. It only took 2 days to potty train her that way, and we had been trying for months. She was 3 also. I got this idea from the Dr. Phil show by the way.

This may sound harsh, and I know it's abrupt, but it's how I potty trained my older two boys, and it's how I'll potty train my twins soon.

Buy lots of underwear, and get rid of the diapers.....period. (Some people will get pull ups for night time, but I never did.) Ask her every 15 to 20 minutes, if she needs to go potty. Any time she hesitates, take her to the bathroom and sit her on her potty. Any time you have to go to the bathroom, take her with you and sit her on the potty while you go. Read her stories on the potty. Play I spy, and reward her when she goes.

For my oldest it took three days and we were done. I'm not saying he went accident free from then on, but he was potty trained. My second was tougher, and it took him about three weeks. The trick is not to give up. If she's three, you could probably get it done over the weekend! Consistency is the key. She'll catch on sooner or later, and then you'll be done.

One last tip, take her shopping for "big girl panties!" Let her pick out the ones SHE wants. She'll want to keep them clean, if she likes them.

My daughter loved the fact of getting to wash her hands. We washed her hands after every diaper change and she thought this was a big thing. Then she decided on her own that she was going to go potty. Also, try rewarding her. I know that my friend tried M&M everytime the child would go potty he would get one M&M. It took him two days and he was potty trained. Make sure your mother and you are on the same page. You can even try taking her every 30 minutes to hour to the potty. Good Luck!!

bring her to me for a week. I just potty trained my granddaughter who was 2 years and 2 months, on top of my 4 kids and all my daycare babies.
1- set the timer for every hour- when it rings, say, run to the potty like it is very urgent, and run her in to the bathroom.
2- after she sits there- reward her with something she likes- a marshmellow, 1 jelly bean...if there is success- Praise her, jump up and down and look like a fool congratulating her, and doubling the reward.
My grand daughter loves make up, so when she went, I put lipstick on her and let her Kiss the poster board. We also sang songs, read books and played a game for as long as she would sit on the potty.
After one week- success.
PS use real cloth training pants for the day- she needs to feel the wetness when she has an accident. Cover with plastic pants for your own protection.

BE CONSISTENT!!!!!!! And buy regular undies. Pulls ups are no different than diapers. I put my daughter in regular undies when she was 2 and when she wet, she did not like the feel. Ask her if she has to go. Take her to the bathroom every 20 min if you have to. But get some regular undies for her and see how that works. I got results immediately (she can sleep thru the night and wake completely dry- has been for a year now)

don't worry. my mom works full time and she potty trained my 2 and 4 sisters on the same day. some tips:
go over it with your daughter: uh oh! what do you do when you have to go potty? and reenforce that.
DON'T SAY: i'll give you a cookie if you go nicely. why? because: what happens next time? MOMMY, I WENT POTTY! NOW GIVE ME A COOKIE!
instead, give her a treat maybe after a few times of sucess.

Have your daughter throw away her diapers and let her pick out "big girl panties" at the store. You should always reward her when she goes, I gave both my kids M&Ms when they would be successful. Also, do not use pullups, its just an excuse for an accident. Doing it this way, your daughter will know her only choise is to use the toilet, it will take 2-3 days to get it, but VERY worth it!

you can reward her for every time she does use the potty or if she she uses it for a certain amount of time...lets say a week...you can give her a bigger reward...and it doesnt have to be somthing expensive, it can be like a day where you go out for fast food for lunch or somthing like taht.
