I'm not sure, but when I drink normal tea I feel sleepy. Although I feel sleepy, I have an urge to stay awake.

Not really- normal tea is full of caffeine so in theory keeps you awake- maybe its the warming nature of the bevergae that is an aid to relaxation before sleep

Normal caffeinated tea might keep you awake. If you try using decaf tea it will help you sleep if it is warm, since a warm stomach makes a person sleepy.
Otherwise, if it was a herb tea, depending on the herb it might help you sleep, particularly if it had chamomile, which is relaxing.

Black Tea (the usual type) does have caffeine so it will keep you up. However, it does cause your stress levels to fall, so perhaps if you drink tea you might be more relaxed to go to sleep.
Green Tea (an alternative) does not have caffeine, but it contains a diuretic, so you may be kept up or woken up to go to the bathroom.

i read that black coffee can help you get to sleep.... really don't know where that came from. i think that with tea if you think it will help you sleep it will if you think it won't then it won't... i.e. not enough caffine to keep you awake but if you think it will your head will take over and it will!!!
try red bush tea, it hasn't got any caffeine (or teainne or whatever it is tea has in!) and it tastes nice and not all herbally x

teas containging camomille and lavender promote relaxation and sleep. check out your local natural/organic store, most carry several brands of tea for specific purposes. As far as dreams, they are caused by your brain (some argue they are manifestations of thoughts in your subconcious). dreams should not be avoided, but understood. write down your dreams and then use a dream dictionary to see what the main compoenents in your dream may represent

It depends on the type of tea and how long you steep it. Black, Pekoe and some herbal teas like Red Zinger have caffeine.

A warm drink does help you sleep at night, but I wouldn't have thought it'd be tea. Try a hot chocolate or warm milk.
