Guys want everyone to like them, if they dont they want to be respected or admired by them.
However if you want to know if he "like-like's" you then you should know. He probably cant like like you until you get to know each other well, just smiles is not enough to know a person.

Talk to him and see if he likes you. My bf did that before we went out. A week after i noticed that he was smiling he asked me out. Talk to him.

possibly. but he may just be a happy/smiley person, if thats the case, you`ll have to have a friend or you would have to ask him if he likes you.
