Well, i know this sounds sick... but i decided to spank my kid, but i dont want to actually hit 'em. do u all have anything that is safe that can give the same effect or feeling as a spanking? like a creme or something?

If you really believe in spanking, then go ahead.

If you are afraid of child abuse, just think clearly. Why do u need to spank them? Definitely, for the sake of them. Without leaving marks on the bottom, I think the cops can not arrest you. Spank with your open hand will not hurt seriously. They will just feel the pain. Such pain is deserved by them if they are bad. I was spanked with my pants down as a child. It is very efficient. It hurts more(by not using belt or other tools) and add humiliation to the punishment. Kids must definitely hate it. But a punishment must be sth that hated by everyone. Otherwise, if sb enjoys it, how come it is a punishment? Next time, they will consider carefully before they misbehave in order to avoid the pull down pants spanking. Then the chances for spanking will drop exponentially.

This kind of spanking should only be done to both boys and girls before 10.

Yea sure go ahead and put some icy hot on his or her butt!What are you talking about a creme?Whats wrong with you?First off,I understand a little pop on the butt for somthing...Whats wrong with that?Dont go and beat your kids...I personally dont belive in spanking kids with a belt.I was spanked with belts as a child and in some situations that can be borderline with abuse.But I guess any kind of spanking is abuse now...Don't follow the trend,find more creative ways of punishment.Ones with more meaning,not scare tactics.

Catlover has the right idea. Use a naughty mat for the child to sit on. (a small rug or blanket oreven a folded towel) No toys. Make it as boring as possible. if the child gets off the mat before the few minutes are up...start timing all over again.

1 minute for each year the child is old.
A minute seems like forever to a child.

Don't spank, like others have said, time outs or confiscating something they love works much better and they will think of losing something they love before they act up again.

Cream or something? that sounds more cruel then a beating. Look just do it and be done with it Your attitude says a lot more than the actuall hitting anyway so suck it up. You can use my rule of thumb, no more whacks than the spankee is old, like birthday smacks only without the cake.

Huh?? If you don't wanna spank then don't. Try a different form of discipline, & what works for one child (time out, no TV, no doing a fav. activity that day, etc.) may not work for another, you'll have to be creative.

it says, "spare the rod, spoil the child" and age old adage that is so true..
but of course once the child is getting older they should start acting more and more like a nice young good mannered adult so they would not longer need the good old days of spankings
you need to actually have contact with the butt to make the effect of what your going for, other wise it is a game, and they will treat you that way.
