Jesus was quoted in the bible to have referred to John The Baptist as Elijah reincarnated. So no doubt that the belief in reincarnation at that time was very strong among the people (and it is still very strong in many parts of the world). The question is why did the Christian elders remove it from their teachings of Christianity? Perhaps it is because it conflicts with their teaching of hell, a very heavy and effective weapon that keeps the followers in line. Today, the one-life theory is a major cause of ambivalence in Christians who have first hand knowledge of reincarnation.

Reincarnation is a fact of life, apart from the logical explanations it provides about many things that would have defied reasonable explanations. I urge you to find out the facts from persons who have first hand experience, instead of just reading about the arguments for and against it.

Whether you choose to believe or not, reincarnation is something you cannot run away from. It is a major flaw of the Christian teachings that karma and reincarnation are not taught.

I don't know. Unlike gods, one can at least make a non-superstitious case. Look up "Quantum Immortality". It depends on reality being infinite and the possiblitlity of exact brain replication somewhere in the universe as a result.

Unlike gods, I think it is at least reasonable enough not to dismiss it out of hand. I prefer simply not to make any claims about the subject.

Of course if there actually is a form of conciousness continuity based on quantum immortality it is quite a bit different than religious interpretations of reincarnation

None were found or mention for the word "Reincarnation" in the King James Version.

Reincarnation is the basic system for the 779 million Hindus, for the 324 million Buddhists, the 6 million Jains and a variety of cults reincarnation is an essential aspect of their teachings: Hare Krishna, Theosophy, New Age, Unity School of Christianity, Rosicrucianism, Urantia, Gnosis and Spiritualism.

If you believe in reincarnation, you are not believing in the Bible; if you believe the Bible, reincarnation is a contradiction to the Bible, because it offers no loving God, no forgiving grace, and robs the Almighty of his attribute of mercy.

The Bible teaches over and over that you and I will go to Heaven or Hell after our only life on earth, without any reincarnation, "as it is appointed unto men once to die, and after this the judgment" (Heb.9:27).

First, you won't find anything on the matter of reincarnation in the bible. It just is not part of the dogma of christianity, nor of islam or judaism either.

Second, to find out about it, read about Hindu or Buddhist beliefs, they are the modern day religions that have the best known lore on the matter.

Third, you won't find any creditable answer whether it is true or not, it depends on the beliefs of who you ask, and like the existence of god, heavens, hell, angels and demons etc, it falls in the realm of metaphysical stuff that can't factually and scientifically be proven or disproven.

Scripture never mentions reincarnation, but it does teach us about what happens when we die. Reincarnation is false.

Here's a good verse for summing up the Bible's view on reincarnation.

Hebrews 9:27
"It is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment"

Well the Christian belief is that reincarnation does not exist. However, there are several faiths that do believe in reincarnation (mine included, Hinduism). People talk about past-life regression, and past life experiences, so I'd be willing to bet it's true.

There are many problems with the salvation-by works doctrine of reincarnation. First, there are many practical problems. For example:
1. We must ask, why does one get punished for something he or she cannot remember having done in a previous life?
2. If the purpose of karma is to rid humanity of its selfish desires, then why hasn't there been a noticeable improvement in human nature after all the millennia of reincarnations?
3. If reincarnation and the law of karma are so beneficial on a practical level, then how do advocates of this doctrine explain the immense and ever-worsening social and economic problems - including widespread poverty, starvation, disease, and horrible suffering - in India, where reincarnation has been systematically taught through out its history?
There are also many biblical problems with believing in reincarnation. For example, in 2 Corinthians 5:8 the apostle Paul states, "We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord." At death, the, the Christian immediately goes into the presence of the Lord, not into another body. In keeping with this. Luke 16:19-31 tells us that unbelievers at death go to a place of suffering, not into another body.
Further, Hebrews 9:27 assures us that "man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment." Each human being LIVES ONCE as a mortal on earth, DIES ONCE, and then FACES JUDGMENT. He does not have a second chance by reincarnating into another body.

just because it's not in the Bible doesn't mean it's not real. It's just a belief, kinda like the Bible. Who says the Bible is real how do we know that? I'm a Christian but for some reason I believe in it, even if it's not stated in the Bible.

the Tibetans believe in reincarnation, as the Dali lama is supposed to be a reincarnation of the previous Dali lama. this is about the only well studied religion that actively promotes reincarnation. other than that there is not much written about it except for occult titles touching on the subject. hope this helps

No one knows anything for sure. You cannot trust the bible for answers to anything.
