Karli -
Just be straight up....say something like the last few times you came to visit you always bring me presents and I really appreciate it, but I dont want you spending any unnecessary money on buying me presents....your coming to visit is all the present I need or want. I can't wait to see you.
Make sure to throw in the can't wait to see you so he knows that nothing is wrong.
Good luck

Girl...let him buy you the flowers and candy! He likes you and misses you, so he does it. Plus, do you dislike getting those types of things? You'd be upset if he never did, and he might get the message to stop all together if you speak up on it.
You could tell him that you appreciate his gestures (if he does it again), but you're just happy to spend time with him, and that's enough...he doesn't need to go out of his way

Girls often have this exact same problem...but girls often overlook the fact that SOME guys aren't total d--kheads, and we buy / make / write / compose / manufacture things just because we WANT to. It's not a feeling of obligation or duty; it's simply a kind act and we take pleasure in doing it out of the goodness of our hearts. If your boyfriend is continuing to buy you things, consider the fact that he's doing it for a reason, and that reason is most likely because he wants you to feel special.

Say something like, I am so glad you're making a trip to visit me. I know that other girls like for their guys to buy them flowers and balloons and candy and stuff but for me, no gift even comes close to how wonderful it is when you arrive here.
Put the emphasis on the words no gift. Or...present him with this poem.
Roses are red, violets are blue.
Who cares...as long as I'm with you!

Plan a surprise outing for him to a favorite spot of the both of you, when you talk to him on the phone, say to him, "I have a surprise for you, so just bring yourself and nothing else, I promise you'll like it." That way, he won't bring something and you won't feel bad for not giving him anything - it'll make his day or even week.

Pretty much tell him what you told us. "You're always so sweet in bringing things to me, but I don't want you to spend your money. What I'm really looking forward to is seeing you!" If he buys you something anyway, don't feel guilty. He obviously enjoys doing it, and most likely does not expect you to reciprocate.

Tell him straight out. It's not rude. Say "Please don't buy me anything. I really have appreciated the gifts you've given me in the past, but I'd rather see you, or have you spend our money on something we can do together, than gifts for me."
Then, if and when he brings you gifts, be very appreciative of course, but say "you didn't have to do this, and you don't have to next time." And don't be "googley" over whatever he's given you.

Just accept it and say, "Thank you." Those aren't expensive gifts, just small tokens. Don't hurt his feelings. After you thank him you can tell him that the gifts aren't necessary but that's all.
