How old is your cat?

My last cat I had started drinking lots of water. It turned out he was having Kidney failure and had to be put down. He was 10 years old. If in dought take your cat to the vet.

That's a very good question. I do not have a definite answer, but I can assure you that he is just morbidly curious about why water does not stand still. I have a 3-year-old tabby who just loves to knock over your drink when your not looking. After the drink has been spilled, she'll just stand there staring at the liquid that is now being absorbed by the carpet. I also have a water bowl in the basement which she will drag around until she has knocked all of the water onto the concrete floor. I have caught her doing this and watched her leap away from the flash flood and stand there attempting to swap the now free-flowing water. She then proceeded to walk in it and then decided to shake violently each and every paw that contacted the water, leap out of the water and stare at it [the water] with a sort of confused look.

I have lots of kitties and they all prefer cold water from my bottled water in the fridge. They also like water that is fresh -- any water that just came out of the tap would appeal (like the water in your shower). His water bowl sits and gets stale so he probably likes the fresh stuff in the bottom of your shower. We have a Pet Fountain and the water runs all the time but my cats still prefer to drink out of the faucet or out of my shower.

Personally i wouldn't say it's wierd, my 5 month old kitten also loves any source of water, he also jumps in the shower after me, he sits on the side of the bath dipping his paw in, he always knocks drinks over and one time he heard the toilet flush, bolted up the stairs and jumped in the toilet lol! (he got abit of a surprise and jumped straight back out again though :P) Just make sure you change his water regularly, and don't forget to clean his water bowl too :)

Both of my cats are crazy about water too. They also like to get in the shower when I'm done, they like to "help" with the dishes, and they love to drink out of the faucets. I think it's a misconception that "cats hate water," because I know mine love it too! Enjoy the humor of it all!

Cats love to drink a lot of water. All that is happening is that your cat seems to like fresh water, and cold water. Hopefully you leave wateer out all the time for your cat, but as your cat seems to like it cold, you should probably change the water more often than other people do for their cats.

My cat Elvis is crazy about water as well. I just thought it was him. He seems to do the same things your cat does too! How funny... anyways I think it's perfectly normal, nothing wrong with it. Ask a vet if you want to make sure.

Its a inherited safety measure. Cats avoid all standing water. It prevents them from getting sick. My likes to drink from the tap as soon as I turn it on. They make products that pets drink from that is from a spout. keep his water fresh.

For some reason your cat thinks what you have is better than what he gets so he always goes after what you have. Kinda like a spoiled kid really, But it shows that you have spent a lot of Quality time with your cat
