Is it true that the Kiwifruit is sort of a mix between strawberries and pineapples? (I've also heard it was strawberries-bananas) Some people told me that and I can't find anywhere if it is right...

no they are not. Kiwi is a different fruit native to a different part of the world.

a kiwi is its own fruit. they're about the size of a 6 yr old's fist, brown in color and have very short, fuzzy hairs on the outside. the inside is a vibrant green color with small black seeds concentrated around the core. they taste best when the skin is peeled away and are sliced. extremely delicious!

you may have gotten this misperception through juices and stuff. kiwistrawberry juice tastes great, but they're two totally different fruits.

Kiwi's originated in China, I can remember in the 1960's seeing Graham Kerr using them on his show in Canada, he called them Chinese Gooseberrys, now they are grown in New Zealand, Italy grows alot and in the US.

They grow alot like grapes from a vine type plant and are picked from the vines that overhang the main plant stem, I have had the golden one's and the native green type.

As a chef in Canada we use to use them in desserts, pastrys, salads, one place I ran I had a fillet of orange roughey with a kiwi sauce, I strained out the seed it was sweet and soury, a nice contrast to the white flakey fish.

It's a unique fruit, not a cross of anything.
But the flavor resembles a strawberry-banana mix.
They are high in vitamin c, so enjoy!
