This is very common. I am a skin care specialist and Medical Assistant. After years of going through the same problems as you I finaly found one skin care line that has seroiusly given me results.
Dont try Proactive, Dermalogica, Skin Ceuticals, Any over the counter stuff...it all has ingredients that will agrivate your acne worse. Plus, your just wasting your cash. USe a medical grade product that does not contain irritatants.
Here is what I use and suggest:
VIVANT skin care is a line developed by the co-founder of Retin-A and Benzoyl Peroxide. The best thing for acne is benzoyl peroxide, vitamin A and Mandelic Acid. These three things will help you exfoliate, kill bacteria, reduce oil production and help prevent against Scarring.

NATURAL ACNE PROTOCOL
1/ Never, ever touch your face.
2/ Use 3 facecloths to wash your face, one to soap on, one to soap off with very hot water, one to rinse off with ice cold water, in that order, once a day.
3/ If you are under 18 take 5,000 IU of vitamin A once a day with a full meal
4/ If you are over 18 take 5,000 IU of vitamin A twice a day with a full meal.
Do not get pregnant while taking vitamin A. Do not take any more, like Accutane, it will stop you growing.
5/ Never, ever. pick, squeeze or pop your spot. Read number 1 again.
6/ Do this for 90 days.
7/ Invest in a brand new pillow and 2 new or more pillow cases to double bag' your pillow. HOT wash every couple of days.

A bit of advice given to me as a teenager, a bit of science as I am studying allergic reactions and vitamin A is a part of that. A bit of research: I sat in a lecture at the back and watched the acne prone pick at their faces, those with the worse acne touched their faces 32 times in an hour, the clearest complexions didn't touch their faces even once. I have circumstantial evidence that acne is the result of dermatophyte transfer from hands to face...where it does not get washed off and is well fed by hormones, sweat a
nd oil...just a hypothesis... But it would explain why vitamin A is so effective as vitamin causes skin to remove dermatophytes.
The secret is never to touch the spots
Tips on how to treat acne and achieve perfect clear skin in as little as 7 days?

Go to a spa and get a facial!! They are trained for this skin condition and will be able to give you samples of skin kits (dermalogica is really good). Make sure you exfoliate regularly (3 times a week) with something gentle, use an oil free face wash first, exfoliate after, then always use a light moisturizer afterwards. Occasionally use a cleansing mask to refine pores. Do talk to a skin care tech though, you can usually get a mini facial and they will analyze your skin type for you to get proper care! You'll have glowing skin in no time. (Please don't use Proactive, it can cause serious dryness in the future and many problems with pores- at the spa I worked at we had so many Proactive users come in with these complaints!) Good Luck!!

You have to attack acne where it starts, with your diet. For me, diet was the cause and solution. Topical medications fight the symptoms. Start by eliminating trans fats and eating more fruits and vegetables. Once you start cleaning up the inside of your body, by eating properly, the outside of your body (your skin) will be get cleaned up too. I started a website to document my problem and solution.

You might find it helpful to read my story. Just remember to eat an all natural/organic diet with lots of fruits and vegetables. Stay away from processed foods. Use mild, all natural cleansers and don't pick at your face. Get lots of sleep and enough water for your body weight. Remember, clean body = clean skin. While you're waiting for your skin to clear, remind yourself that acne is a challenge that you will overcome soon. Once you're rid of it, tell all your friends how you did it. That's what I'm doing. God Bless.

Well I'm not really sure because my acne is really unnoticeable but allot of my friends use Proactive and it seems to work GREAT! You should also try Loreal Hydro renewal which you can get at Wal*mart or you could try Stridex pads which you can also get from Wal*Mart and the last thing i can suggest is a Eucerine Lotion which is at Wal*Mart as well.Hope this helped!

I had the same thing... just since I had my son.. and I was blaming it on hormones but it never went away. I got that proactive stuff and it works great! A friend recommended it to me, she had a tenancy to break out when she would get stressed, but not anymore. We both love it. Plus it makes my skin feel sooo clean!

I don' t know about Burt's Bees, but Lina is absolutely right about ProActive. It really works well. It is a bit pricey, but it really helped my son. However, one thing to be aware of--since it contains peroxide, it will bleach out your towels and your bedding, so be sure to wash your hands well after applying it and drying them on a white or an old (i.e. who cares if it gets bleached) towel. Our new, light blue towels now have pink streaks from hand drying and my son's pillowcase no longer matches his sheets. Also, if you travel with it, be REALLY careful. His leaked in his suitcase. Fortunately, it only ruined one towel, but it could have been disastrously expensive if it had gotten on a suitcase full of clothes.

PanOxyl is the most potent non-prescription cream you can buy and it works a treat! It's actually sold as a 'gel' but it looks and feels just like a cream and is sold in squeezy tubes like toothpaste.
