What insturment is used to keep the tounge and lips out of the way when getting braces/ fillings etc. It is usually clear and it like makes your mouth look like a duck. Also does it make you gag or does it go to the back of your throat?I have gotten it before but I have forgotten. I have a fear of gagging (ya i know).

The one for the lips is called a lip, or mouth retractor. There are different retractors for different jobs. Tongue retractors, and cheek retractors.

This instrument is simply a quick-setting form of polymer (plastic.)
When mixed in proper proportions, it can be moulded around your teeth to set either quickly (and aviod dripping down your throat) or slowly, to set a cast of your teeth.
