The key to cooking meat so that it is tender is to cook it slowly at a low temperature. Try cooking it in a crock pot or the oven at a low temp, 225 degrees or so. However, always cook your meat to about 180 degrees so you don't get sick!

Don't overcook it!

I was on a business trip in the same town where Hormel is located. Naturally, they served pork chops for dinner. I got my knife ready and people looked at me like I was crazy.

Those pork chops were so tender, you could cut them with a fork. They were also an inch thick.

When making pork chops, they are done when the center is slightly pink, not white.

Also, with steak, get a GOOD brand of steak (Ranchers Reserve or Black Angus from the markets). Good cuts are rib eye and tenderloin. Cook until slightly pink on the inside (medium). If you make it well done, it will taste like leather.

If you want a really great recipe for pork chops (any cut) and you want it fall-apart tender, here's what you can do:

1. Brown your porkchops on both sides. Brown them well.
2. Place the porkchops in a deep pot.
3. Add one package of Lipton Onion Soup (powdered kind)
4. Add the entire contents of one small beer (you may substitute the beer with orange or apple juice but it's best with the beer.
5. Cover the pot and cook on medium heat on the stovetop or at 350 degrees in the oven until the meat is tender and falls apart when you touch it with a fork. (about 1 hour)
6. The liquid with the soup makes it's own fantastic sauce.

Enjoy! I serve it with mashed taters and veggies of the season.

The best thing to do is Sear the outside. Toss pork with oil, salt, pepper, then put it into a really hot pan. Turn so all sides brown. Then take out and cook in oven till done. It should still be slightly pink in the middle.

For a pork roast you cook it in a slow cooker. For pork chops I can't help you except don't cook them as long. I fry pork chops in an electric fry pan for 45 minutes and flip them every 15 minutes.

Slow cooking works the best. Either in the oven or in a crock pot. My family likes the meat to be very tender. So I have learned to cook slowly and on a low temperature. Good luck.

I flour and fry pork chops on top of the stove till brown, which is about 5 minutes. then i put them in a roaster with some cream of mushroom soup, diluted with a can of water, and bake them on 325 for an hour or so.. Baking pork in a low heated oven is best, and make sure there's some sort of fluid (water, soup, bouillion) in the roaster also.

For steak and pork chops many recipies recommend allowing them to stand at room temperature for 20-30 minutes before cooking, and also letting them rest for 5 minutes after cooking to keep them nice and juicy.

It's also important not to overcook them. For grilling we use the cookout calculator at charcoalbob.com. You enter the thickness, doneness, etc. and it gives you precise instructions for how to grill steaks, pork chops, chicken breasts, etc.

Too much salt prior to cooking can also draw the moisture out of the meat.
