My bet there were hundreds at least, possibly more.
Religion was around at leats two thousand years before even Buddha.They've been studying the science of the self for a long time. Hinduism led to Buddhism, which quite possibly led to Christianity, not to mention Hinduism had to have an origin (either Egyptian or otherwise), I don't know that part, but I'm willing to bet there were more than just 10.
