Pollution, litter, all of these kinds of things are eating away at our earth!
Pollution is taring apart our ozone layer cause sunburn, which causes cancer. we need to think of ways to prevent this!
Another thing is littering, the more people litter the more animals die! Just think there are over a million people in just New York City. If Everyone picks up a piece of trash once a day for a week, there will be a at least a billion less pieces of garbage laying around in this world.
If you have ideas to help our Earth from pollution and littering please tell me!
Thankyou.............and think.

I agree with Paul.
the saving of the earth begins with YOU! if you start to adopt good practices into your life, others will see what you're doing and start doing the same.
here's some suggestions - and these are just the beginning!
1. use public transport rather than a private car. it's my firm belief that the downhill began with the invention of the infernal combustion engine. public transport reduces the weight of pollutants by getting lots of people into the one vehicle. inconvenient maybe, but when you get used to it it is a good thing!
2. consume less. do you REALLY need that new pair of jeans/cd/cell phone?? consumption leads to pollution by the manufacture of new things as well as the massive problem of the disposal of old things. where DO old computers go when they die?
3. if you are going to buy something, try to find out where it came from. locally produced goods pollute less because they use much less transport.
4. Buy organic produce rather than something which uses lots of chemicals. chemical overburden gets into our drinking water and results in a need to clean our water. lots of energy and lots of waste once again.
5. buy ethically - produced goods rather than stuff which comes from a sweatshop. sweatshops are usually a long way away - china, bangladesh etc. shipping costs a lot and often the country of origin has NO strictures on emissions.
6. buy stuff with minimal packaging rather than things with masses of pretty plastic wrappings, which end up as the litter that you're worried about. It's not the litter or the consumers fault - it's the responsibility of the company which manufacturs the goods in the first place. Germany has a system in place where the company MUST take the packaging back! they get tax credits if they reduce their packaging amongst other incentives.
7. watch "an inconvienent truth" - al gore's film. he's copping a battering at the moment, but that's a case of "shooting the messenger". what he says is so very true!
8. get hold of a book called "mindful politics - a buddhist guide to making the world a better place" edited by melvin mccleod and published by wisdom publications. This book is fantastic and describes HOW we all are able to change the way things are by changing the way WE are first!!
hope this helps!
love and light,
jarrah
btw. thanks for an open and honest question. i feel that you're really wanting an answer to this, rather than most of the questions here which appear to be designed to get points of view validated!!

I would say the most important thing is to let others understand the importance of reducing, recycling, and reusing.
I say it's best to start by recycling because it is so easy to do. All we need to do is recycle every single piece of paper and recyclable material to reduce companies from killing more trees and creating more trash. In Japan, their recycling system is so advanced everybody actually spends the time to sort out recyclable items into categories of paper, plastic, bottles, glass, etc.
If only countries as large as the United States and China could do this, there will be an amazing impact on saving the Earth from global warming.
It is best to encourage others to recycle and raise money to support recycling companies to provide recyling services to all areas. Many apartments and cities do not have recycling services set up for people. If only all these people could recycle too , then the earth will certainly be a much better place to live in.

Global warming is in theory reversable, but it will mean global co operation between all countries ,and taking into account human nature and the world politics ,it is unlikely that this will happen,
At least not untill we are all in the middle of planetary disastres and it becomes a battle for the survival of humanity every where.
SOLUTIONS
if you want to help the planet ,plant a tree every week ,if everyone on the planet did we we would be able to reverse the destructive processes
reduce carbon emisions, and they are already working on that by alternative forms of energy and regulations on carbon producing materials, aerosol cans, burning rubbish, industrial chimneys, powerplants etc.
the capture of carbon and the production of water and assist the aquiferous manta.
the world bank pays large subsidies for reforrestation to capture carbon and the best tree for this is the Pawlonia
Waterharvesting projects ,such as millions of small dams.to redirect over ground waterflows from the rains into the ground to supply subteranian water supplies.
the protection of existing forrests.
stop building more highways, urban planning to include vegetation stop building cities encourage people to return to the land to conduct their business from there which now has become possible thanks to the internet.
education to motivate people to auto sufficiency by building more home food gardens.
education on environmental awareness
education on family planning to curb over´populaion
Agricultural education and improvements to follow the principals or sustainability and soil management.
more environmental or land ,design to prevent bush fires, such as--fire breaks
,more dams.regulations and control for public behaviour
alternative effeciant public transport to discourage the use of the internal conbustion engine
recicling wastes,limit water use

I think that to make people do community service when we catch them littering would be one way. A fine is just too easy. Recycling plastic and paper has to be mandatory and we could pay deposits to make sure we do. Even homeless people would benefit because they could pick up what we miss and make money. Also that little box on our tax return could be used to check off more programs than just campaign fund. I.E. Pollution Fund, Children's Medical Fund, Homeless Fund, AID's Fund. We have to vote for people who will take cleanup seriously. - Kat

Don't believe everything you hear in Hollywood. If we want the world do be better, we can get rid of Hollywood (look at all the pollution that comes from those hot heads), the EPA and the Seirra club. Then maybe we can help Mother Earth.
