Normally my daughter (she is 2) sleeps well from about 9 pm to about 8am. Lately she has been waking up during the night about 4 or 5 times. She has a snack and a bottle (yes, she still has a night time bottle) before bed and nothing has changed in her life, has anybody else experienced this or maybe know why she is doing this?? She is not teething either.

My daughter is 2 1/2 and going through the same thing, the doctor told me it is night terrors and most kids that age go through it, my daughter wakes up screaming and kicking but is not really awake, and its scary, but the doc advised do not wake her it can cause her to be more frightened to even induce a heart attack, he said they usually ride out of them by the time they are 3. Also he said they can be caused by cramping in the legs from growing so a tylenol b4 bed might also help.

IIt could be an ear infection. that's the most common reason for nighttime waking in a child who usually sleeps just fine. If not, that I would say it's a phase. Don't respond to her or give her any attention to reinforce the behavior. It will stop quickly.

If she's been cranky, she could be sick. If not, she could be having nightmares. Try asking if anything is scaring her.
