I think white paper looks better, even though the manila would stand out.

Just make sure its not the normal white printer paper. I used to review a lot of resumes, when i came across those, i would seriously rip them up. The best thing to do is go to an office store, (Staples, Office Depot, Office supplies) and buy some resume paper. It's sold in a pack of 20 and type up your resume on that.

You do want it to stand out, but it also depends on what type of job you are applying for. I like to use a thick paper with a very light hint of color and pattern in the background. It's professional and eye catching for that extra touch. I read a lot of resumes and the ones that take the exra effort to make it look eye catching are the first ones I look at. Make sure you do a cover letter on the same paper and it will really come together. Of course the contents of the resume are what gets the job!

White paper. Don't be too creative as this detracts from the resume.

The whitest paper you can get...maybe even a little thicker also.
