Don't understand why you think it's pointless hiring a car as from what you've said there is absolutely no way crossing the dual carriageway can look elegant., guests yes but if bride and attendants are in long dresses, sorry but it's going to look like a pantomime. Wedding cars and carriages are usually booked for a minimum length of time so could take you a roundabout road to the church and back. If it is the expense you are worrying about why not just get a taxi or I am sure any of the guests would take you in their car?

Do you have to literally cross a dual carriageway??? Isn't that dangerous??? Or is there a bridge? If there was a bridge you could tie big ribbon bows along it (although this might not be legal?!).
What is the speed limit along this road??? Sorry but the more I am thinking about it the more I am worrying!! Hope you are wearing a sensible dress and sensible running shoes! And that you don't have any doddery older people going.
God I am not going to sleep now, I worry about things!
Good luck!

Well You can hire off duty motor cycle cops to sop the traffic so your whol party can cross. it's easy to do and really it's pretty cheap. you wouldn't want your perfect day ruined by some jerk honking and yelling, or worse not stopping...
Another idea is perhaps hire a horse drawn carriage to take you around the block while everyone else walks across to the reception. then once everyone is there then you can arrive and make your grande entrance. C'mon think fairy tale wedding, You only get one you know... (well if you're lucky ;)

What about a horse drawn carriage?
Those always add elegance, but who would want to ride in one 5 bloks away from where they started, that would take forever!
Your situation is perfect for a Carriage ride. Horses don't travel fast, so you get to enjoy the ride there and back. And it won't look too weird since it's a horse carriage for goodness sakes!
Hope this helped and wish all go well!
CONGRATULATIONS â¥

You could be lead by ushers and flower girls throwing petals in front as you walk across the duel carriage way. That would look lovely. Have a wonderful day and good lock for the future. x

Taxi? Walking will totally not work unless you stop the traffic and put a pretty tunnel across the road for ten minutes!

How about parking your own car in the church's parking area, and simply having someone bring it around when you're ready to leave?

I am afraid I'd still go by car. I wouldn't want to risk damaging the dress or anything and what if it's raining????

Why don't you ask your dad to take you all in his car!? That way, you won't have to pay but you won't risk your dresses getting dirty or look daft walking across a main road! :)
