poems are a form of art. perhaps he sees them as that now since she is out of his life. what would you expect he do if he painted a famous picture or wrote a hit song before you met him?
If he can write and express his emotions on paper its his way of moving forward into the future...not necessarily living in the past.
of course, you can have whatever feelings it brings out...however,
you must also look at love letters and poetry as works of art.
maybe you can encourage him to write to you. make him feel good instead of bad for being able to feel deeply about someone.
you might just have a real great guy there!! peace

You are being an idiot and are jealous for no cause. He probably did love that girl. It is wonderful that that love led to the creation of something as powerful and personal as a love poem. He is keeping them to remind him of that feeling and his creative output. He probably doesn't love her anymore, but you will drive that boy away by constantly nagging him about it.

Give yourself an attitude adjustment--if he is capable of love that deep and true, then that is a beautiful thing that the two of you might share together, but you make him defense by asking him about it. Stop being jealous over nothing because it will ruin what you have.

I recently made my boyfriend get rid of everything that has anything at all to do with his ex! I don't need that stuff in my house. That other girl is in the past and everything that has to do with her needs to be gone too!!!

I would talk to him about it, and see what he says. But no use bringing up things from the past. Maybe he liked what he wrote, and wants to keep it to remember her. I'm sure you would do the same!

it's not really saying that he hasn't let go of his feelings, but I do know that sometimes, they will probably remind him of special events, not necessarily of her, just events. Eventually, he will get rid of them though.

Writing.
No one should throw out their own writing! you should Read it and be more curious about why he isnt writing for YOU. But throwing out your writing is throwing out a piece of yourself, who you were back then.
Please... encourage him to write MORE, not burn what he has written.
