That's kind of typical, but I always think of the person as "Asian". I have worked with, dated, and am friends with a lot of different people from different places, and I've gotten a lot of ignorance out of the way. I once made the mistake of calling a Korean guy 'Japanese'. He wasn't too mad, but he let me know that it wasn't really cool.

Usually if I'm in doubt, I'll ask. Respectfully.

I've known many Chinese. But I can usually tell the difference. There seems to be a distinct difference by looking at them whether they are Chinese, Korean, Japanese, or Vietnamese.

I'm asian and I don't look chinese.... When people see me they don't know from what part of Asia I come from. I sometimes get a comment that I'm mexican. You can't rely on instinct. Most importantly do not generalize. Just like when you see hispanic, doesn't mean he/she is a mexican....

I go up and ask herwhwere she is form i love meeting asian pepole. so far I met soem china japan and mongola. I think that there neat pepole to meet.

um NO. i think asian girls are some of the prettiest girls in the world, so i usually think "god she's so pretty"
