Hate is a very strong word. True Christians will not hate anyone regardless of their religious beliefs. I think most people who are filled with the Holy Spirit, feel a sense of compassion and concern for JW's. Many JW's have sincere intentions, but they've been deceived, and are unable to detect heresy.
I've personally detected a great deal of fear by witnesses, I've had the opportunity to interact with. Many are emotionally on guard, and the moment the slightest difference of opinion is presented concerning their "religion", JW's will often group together in a defensive stance. That is not of God. It is fear!
When Jesus was in the Garden of Gethsemane, and was questioned, rejected, and harassed, He did not join His disciples to aggressively defend or justify His Beliefs. In fact, He did the opposite, and told those who questioned him to ask others of His past teachings, or reflect on what He had preached in the past.
Jesus was not repetitive and vain!!
Jesus also healed the ear of a soldier that was cut off by one of the disciples who stepped forth to "defend" Him. God does not approve of people who group together in the name of "religion" to make a point, fight for reputation, or prove themselves right before humans.
*****The Lord says expect to be hated because of Him. Not invest time and energy defending the name of a "religion".
The Word of God does NOT need human defense to uphold its truth. It stands on its own. Grouping together to defend a RELIGION, is rooted in fear, and there is no fear in love.
God Bless, Miji

I think that most often when someone hates someone/something it is due to misinformation. I think it is funny 2 of the answers say they do not like our beliefs because, then list the exact opposite reason. I know that most people who know me, get along with me pretty well. Some do not even know I am a Witness to begin with. Jesus did say that those who tried to serve him would be hated for it. I always try to remember that EVERYONE was given Freewill by Jehovah. It does bother me when people base their decisions on lies they have been told. I know I have met people who turned absolutely livid when they learned I was a Witness and that I did not celebrate Christmas. Then again there are also those who are just plain hateful. You never know. Most of the people I know and see in the real world are rather polite about things.

how can you hate me, you don't even know me. just because I am a Jehovah Witness. we do what Jesus Christ commanded us to do at Matthew 28 verse 19 and 20. I wish people would stop saying we are a cult. a cult worships man. Jesus Christ never said he was God, yes he said you seen me you seen the Father, he was saying that he was with the Father from the beginning that he knows his Father real well. Jesus Christ is the head of all the Kingdom Halls in 236 lands. even the 12 said he was the son of the Most Holy Father. as far as the bible. we did not make up the bible. we put Jehovah's name back into the bible in the place of Lord, because Lord and God are just titles. read ps 83 verse 18. God has a name just like we do. he wants us to call him by his name. it is also not another name for Jesus Christ.

I personally don't hate Jehovah's Witnesses and I'm not so sure "so many people" really hate them either. I think in general people don't like strangers coming to their doorstep that's all.
I'm sure they are great people with good intentions, but a critical difference in their belief is that Jesus Christ is not God. They believe that He is an inferior creation. That is a huge deal because Christ's deity is central to the Christian faith and very clear in the bible. So make sure you look into things yourself and put things to the test to find the truth!

It is true that Jehovah's Witnesses are not loved by everyone.
http://jw-media.org/newsroom/human_rights.htm
Some people hate Jehovah's Witnesses out of ignorance, or over some misunderstanding. A few may have had a bad personal experience with an individual who claimed to be a Jehovah's Witness, and prejudicially extended their animus to this entire Christian religion.
However, it seems that the majority of anti-Witness hatred is motivated by religious intolerance and bigotry. A few may even be motivated against their Christian worship by the unseen 'god of this system of things', Satan the Devil.
(2 Corinthians 4:4) the god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers
Interestingly, such "hatred" should be expected by true Christians in this time of the end, and it actually helps identify Jehovah's Witnesses as Christ's true disciples:
(John 15:19) If you were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because you are no part of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, on this account the world hates you.
(Luke 6:22) Happy are you whenever men hate you, and whenever they exclude you and reproach you and cast out your name as wicked for the sake of the Son of man.
(1 Peter 4:4) Because you do not continue running with them in this course to the same low sink of debauchery, they are puzzled and go on speaking abusively of you.
(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.
It seems signficant that the relatively small religion of Jehovah's Witnesses are the ones best known for their worldwide preaching work. Yet Jesus commanded that ALL who would call themselves "Christian" perform this public work:
(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you. And, look! I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.

Well I am a Jw (jehovah's witness) and the reason why we go door to door is because Jesus did it, and jesus told us to follow him, so thats what we are doing.
To adress the person who says we don't follow the bible, all our beliefs EVERY SINGLE ONE comes straight from the bible. We don't make things up like other religions, we know our bible, and we back our beliefs up...can you, does your preacher even use the bible? NO they get on a stage and speak whats on their mind, we use the bible.
Personally we could care less that people don't like us coming to their door, why because this is what Jesus did, he preached the word of Jehovah, and he told us to do the same so thats what we are doing so if you want to get mad at anyone get mad at JESUS NOT US.
I find it sad that people deny the truth when we show it to them from their bible.

I don't think its hate its simply annoying at times because when you tell them NO they still try to come in and preach anyway. Another thing is not everyone assumes they don't have jobs because witnessing to people is a job. I have a question for you why don't their place of worship have windows?

I don't hate them. Some of them can be annoying, yes. Some of the ones that I have dealt with have put a foot in my doorway, so that I can't close the door. All I say to them is that if I have any questions, I will ask my grandmother as she is Jehovah's Witness.

You sound like a very nice, well-rounded person with common-sense. Thank you for being reasonable when it comes to us and our religion. It was foretold in the Bible that people would persecute God's people who went door-to-door. Satan just tried to make it hard for us but we can deal with it. After all, we have God's backing :) It's nice to see SOME people know that we don't charge money or blindly do things, such as reject blood.
