I heard it's good for moods and anxiety but my psych won't prescribe it (too expensive I reckon).

Topamax is an extremely dangerous drug and should not be taken without a prescription under any circumstances!!!
It is NOT to be taken for moods or anxiety and has not been approved by the FDA for that usage. Currently, the only approved usage for this drug is for Epilepsy and Migraines.
Because of the dangers associated with this drug, it must be closely monitored by a physician. If the amount is increased or decreased too rapidly, seizures are likely to result. The side effects are numerous and potentially extremely serious.
This is not an anti-anxiety medication or a mood-boosting drug.

There is no way you should consider a drug that your psychiatrist is against. Also buying prescription drugs on line is just plain stupid. We are far from perfect I agree but at least most of us spent about 10 years in training and have many years of experience, frankly you have NONE. Without any doubt self prescribing for depression is a foolish plan!

Topomax is a preventive for migraine headaches in small doses to take at night. Your psych won't prescribe it because it isn't for anxiety. Look it up in a drug book. I do that with any prescription.

Actually topomax alone is not prescribed that much because it is not as strong as a mood stabilizer as the other drugs. Mostly topomax is prescribed with another drug like Lithium and Topomax.
It just is not as strong as other drugs.

go to another psych a lot of them do prescribe it, it works great
