I believe most of the middle east is notoriously uneducated, most children are raised in extream poverty, this makes it easier for their leaders to control them, especially when it comes to their religion, they breed like flies, and most of these children are left out in the streets to fend for themselves, and this becomes a boiling pot for religious extremism, and fanaticism that the whole world will have to deal with one day.

No, in the US the Muslim minority is the most highly educated people. We have the most number of University Graduates AND the most number of people with Graduate level degrees.
I am a first year Science Student in University, I study Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Calculus/Linear Algebra as well as Philosophy.
At home I study Islamic theology as well. Because after all what good is worldly knowledge in there hereafter?
It requires balance, I thank God, have always been at the top of my class in school, now in University some Chinese Girls are giving me a run for my money (I am an American Born Muslim of Pakistani parents).
I like to cook as well, its just like applied chemistry in my opinion.
In Pakistan I know there is a great dichotomy between the illiterate and the literate. The literate are usually very highly educated, Engineers, Doctors etc... but unfortunately the system there doesn't do justice for the poor. They can't afford to send their children to school. God-willing I will do something to help them.

"notoriously uneducated with practical knowledge"....that's a pretty uneducated statement, are you Muslim? That might answer your question.

Depends on where they live. The Middle East in general is uneducated. But again it varies by country.
