If you get a King James Study Bible or NIV Bible and study it, you can choose for yourself which denomination is a Bible believing group. Jesus said we can test all false doctrine by His word from the Bible. For this reason, God gave us His Holy Bible.
I love science. I've always found it interesting, but read
1 Timothy 6:20 & 21 Paul writes,
"O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, (empty talk devoid of truth) and oppositions (heretical arguments to oppose truth) of science falsely so called: Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen."
The churches today have strayed so far from the truth that some may never return to the word of God. When Jesus comes and if they are lukewarm, He said He'd spew them out of His mouth. You have the Mormons, Latter Day Saints, the Jehovah Witness, Islam and the Roman Catholics all using different Bibles that someone within their church organization has written. It was said of John Wycliffe that the Pope dug up his body and desecrated his bones because he handwrote the Catholic bible in English. How could the Pope hold power over the people if the people could read the word of God for themselves? Many a confession was used against the church member by the priest. One of the first things Jesus did when He walked the earth was to discipline the chief temple members. He called them vipers and hypocrits because they buried people with their false traditions and churchiosity.

You should look for a Christian church that most closely follows Scripture. Most Christian churches do not closely follow Scripture. So far, I have found only one church that does this, and that is the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Other churches may claim to follow the Bible only, but they only obey 9 out of the 10 Commandments, and try to tell you that the 4th Commandment has somehow been done away with, but they can't back it up with Scripture.

Come on over to the Episcopal church. None of us agree on anything, but we all live in love and harmony anyway. Well.. at least most of us do. Just ignore that little family feud that we had over the ordination of that gay Bishop.
Seriously, visit an Episcopal Church. We let the Baptist save you and then we teach you about the deeper things of the faith. No hell fire and brimstone here and you get real wine too!

Mannn! What a tough question!
Well, the best way, I think... Would be to have been born deaf and blind so as not to have any prejudiced influences on your decision!
I mean, think about it... What more pure way to find God?!? Just you and what's inside.. Wait! Helen Keller was both blind and deaf her whole life... I would suggest that whatever her religion was, would be a good place to start. I'll check it out then you can Google it for the answer... (Can I say the word Google here?)
OK - Hmmm, it is a Christian-type religion called SWEDENBORGIANISM - and it is still widely practiced! It looks very interesting - you should check it out.

I selected a non-denominational Christian church, but any Christian church where the Bible is the center of teaching and they lead people to a life changing relationship with God is good. Those things were important to me, not so much a particular religion.

If I were to rejoin Christianity, I would select one of these:
High Anglican, because it is the most civilized and intelligent.
Eastern Orthodox, because it derives from the original.
Silent meeting Philadelphia-style Quakers, because it is Zen Christianity, with profound respect for simplicity and peacefulness and absolute truthfulness.

It is sad that a lot of churches have their own "denomination." I suggest you pray to God (Jesus) & seek out where you should attend church. I, personally am Non-denominational--I believe the whole Holy Bible, nothing added, nothing taken away. I do attend a Church of God because the Pastor teaches directly from the Word of God & I sense the Holy Spirit's presence there.

Actually, the vast majority of issues, all denominations and branches would agree on. Sure, there are lots of little things that we quibble over, but we agree on much more than we disagree on.

Gnosticism. I'm starting to get the feeling that most Christians don't like Gnosticism simply because there might be some truths that they want hidden.
