Because some Christians are more intelligent than others. The intelligent ones realise it can't have actually happened. Unfortunately, the less intelligent ones tend to drag the enlightened ones down with them.

Because the flood was literal. There is evidence of it too. Sheshells on tops of the highest mountains. The ridges in the Atlantic Ocean. This all leads to a Great Flood. The Grand Canyon. And for those who believe in evolution the Grand Canyon was not created by the Colorado River. The flood happened.

Considering part of being a true Christian is accepting the Bible in full, all know it was literal.
Actually a lot of non religious scientists recognized that the world was flooded at one time. They like to say the polar ice caps melted, but that is their favorite thing to blame things on at the moment.

I honestly have no clue... But there was this great show on the history channel not to long ago about the parting of the red sea and if egypt was really built by the Hebrews .... Not exactly the great flood but the theory was very interesting you should take a peek at it ....

Because some "Christians" have been affected by evolutionary brainwashing, and they have "accepted" the "fact" that dinosaurs lived "millions of years ago" - in spite of the fact that science has proven that the Earth cannot possibly be millions of years old, and that there was a worldwide Flood about 4400 years ago. The layering of the strata are not from "millions of years" of layers, but due to hydrologic sorting from a Flood that buried the dinosaurs and other pre-Flood animals.
