heres the truth that no one is going to tell u.
dont tell him u like him.
i just broke up with my bf and he was my best firend for 2 yrs.
we only went out a week and it was the most ackward thing i have ever done in my life. along with it being ackward, i regret it.
When i broke up with him, he never spoke to me again, we just dont acciocate anymore. You like ur bestfirend because u know him so well and u feel comforable... if u change to bf and gf, tehn everything is going to change. trust me, u dont want to go out with ur best friend.

You can usually tell if someone likes you. They light up when you're around, smile alot, and tend to do flirty things. There's only one way to tell him and that is to just bite the bullet and tell him. Stop tormenting yourself, and just do it. Either something great will happen and you'll end up together or it will end up being something you'll laugh about when you get a new crush. Good luck to you!
