I have a 13 year old son and even though his father was circumsized, he didn't want our son to be. Now he is approaching puberty, etc. and I am concerned that he will be seen as different.....am I crazy? I have asked other people and they say that not being circumsized is more common now and that I shouldn't stress about it. I realize this is sort of silly to worry about since there ain't a damn thing I can do about it now but I still wonder - I am a single Mom so I get asked all the questions, etc and his Dad is not so easy to talk to....thanks

ok, I should have been more clear. I am not worried about guys looking at him in the bathroom ~ I am talking about when he becomes sexually active. You know, when he's 30!! OK, well in a couple years anyway : ) I will encourage abstinence but am realistic enough to know that teenagers have sex...and teenage girls are lovely but vicious creatures. Was just wondering if this was something that uncircumsized boys have to deal with. And maybe I am crazy for worrying about my teenage son having premarital sex and being made fun of :-) wow, that sounds REALLY bad! Look, the poor kid has glasses, braces and acne....just wondering if there is more angst in his future. (Thanks for all the advice about hygeine, btw)

Don't worry. There's actually a growing trend against routine circumcision in the US, and more parents are declining to have their sons circumcised. It's nothing to worry about. Plenty of guys aren't circumcised, and it's no big deal.

He's 13. Hopefully, NO one is seeing him, yet! If you are worried about when guys check each other in the john, well he must have done that for years now and he's just fine, right? Since you can't talk to your son's dad, can you talk to your own dad?
Personally, I'd love that in someone my age and wouldn't care either way. I think you can have surgery done for it these days if your son wants, but not sure.
EDIT- He's a teenager, there will Definitely be more angst for him! Just be there and he'll love you for it.

1.) If Dad's not around, why does he care if your son is circumcized or not?
2.) Adult/teen circumcision can be done. Talk to a doctor about it.
3.) Noone will see him as different, because (hopefully) noone will be seeing his...um...friend.
4.) When your son does become active, not being circumcized may be a problem due to too much moisture down there, and he may get more yeast infections (yea, guys can get them too, and pass them to others).
Just do some more research on the topic, and talk to your son about it. With local anesthesia, it shouldn't be a problem to get it taken care of if he wants to. But, it's his body, he can do with it what he wants (except tattooing and piercing)

You are crazy. I don't remember ever harrasing or seeing anyone harrased for being circumsized.
For one guy to harrass another guy about his penis, he would by default be admiting that he looked at another guy's penis.
No guy wants to admit looking at another guys penis, at least not well enough to describe how it looks...
The only thing you need to worry about is him keeping it clean. Neither of my two sons are circumsized and I've had to show them how to pull back the foreskin and wash it. I don't think he wants you to show him...
Either a trusted uncle or maybe you can print something off the internet that describes how to...
Good luck.

the most important thing is for him to know how to keep it clean. I am European and a lot of men do not go through circumcision so it's not an issue there. You really shouldn't stress about it unless he tells you he is concerned. Just remember to tell him to watch his hygene, and he'll be fine.

How unusual is this? You and your dad discussing your brother's maximum intimate physique area. Your brother could desire to make the determination himself. you have properly reported some reward to circumcision; there are in simple terms as many reward to staying intact, and in basic terms the guy whose penis is in contact could desire to make the determination. the positioning I supply under is barely one in all many that would not desire circumcision. There are additionally with regard to the comparable quantity that desire it. Kinda leaves it as a private determination, returned pointing returned on your brother, no longer dad and brother. Your tale of no longer taking area in intercourse till now circumcision, yet taking area in it later on could be uncommon; maximum anecdotal circumcision memories are the different different than in situations the place the female better half is the determining ingredient. after all, permit your brother settle on.

Most boys aren't circumsized unless you live in a jewish community. And it's not like many people are going to be looking "down there" so it doesn't matter.
