I live in Vancouver BC and unless your 24 weeks the hospital ultrasound tech legally can't tell you the sex of your child. I had my ultrasound at 19 weeks so they wouldn't tell me or my husband. If they won't tell you the sex, there is a really good chance they won't even go over that particular area during your ultrasound. Our ultrasound tech skipped that area altogether Good luck

Weird that they won't tell the sex. If you are about 18 weeks or so and have a good shot there should be three small (I mean small) lines parallel in the genital area that shows a girl. That's how the ultrasound tech explained our ultrasound to me.

If you are before 20 weeks, they won't tell you the sex. All babies before the 19th week look like girls, so they won't tell you if you are before 20 weeks. If you are 20 weeks or over, they should tell you. If they won't, find out why. Maybe they can't tell themselves. Sometimes it's really hard to see. I've done enough ultrasounds that I can usually tell right off, but sometimes the baby doesn't cooperate, or they are in the wrong position to tell. If you really want to know and it's late enough in pregnancy to tell, ask them to tell you. Or ask your doctor to tell you at your next appointment. Maybe your doctor likes to be the one to tell you, so they won't tell you until you see your doctor.

You can learn the gender of your baby by having a simple gender test. it is based on DNA analysed from a mom's drop of blood. You get the result in 3-5 days. See it at http://www.genednatest.com/early-gender-test.html
good luck

Why won't they tell you the sex? On both of mine they asked in advance if we were interested in knowing. If they don't want to tell you and you want to know, I would ask them why they won't tell. If they can tell what it is and you ask, you have every right to find out. I would complain to the doctor or the hospital.

If I were you, i'd throw a fit! It's your baby and you have the right to know what the gender is. That's not at all fair!!
Get mean mama and find out what that baby is.

they wont? that's odd. unless youre like way too early. just ask for another u/s afterwards to your dr because they couldnt find ....an arm or the u/s gal said the head was big or something like that. they will usually do another one and maybe it's just the u/s person that is being fussy.

Hi Americans,
In some countries they aren't allowed to tell you the sex of your unborn child. There is a world outside your backdoor you know?
